News – Middle East: Writer and journalist Khaled Barakat affirmed that the ongoing crimes of the Israeli enemy—from field executions to the demolition of homes—completely contradict any claims of commitment to a ceasefire.

In an interview on Al-Masirah TV, Barakat stressed that the Zionist entity continues its atrocities with total impunity across occupied Palestine, particularly in Gaza and the West Bank, while cynically calling for a unilateral ceasefire that applies only to the resistance, even as it carries out massacres, demolitions, and maintains occupation over more than half of Gaza.

Barakat pointed out that the Knesset’s proposal to execute Palestinian prisoners is nothing new, as the occupation already practices executions on the ground without the need for legislation, describing the move as a “legal façade for ongoing crimes.”

He revealed that since the 1967 occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, the Zionist entity has executed over 240 Palestinians inside prisons or under torture, in addition to dozens who died due to deliberate medical neglect. Following the Al-Aqsa Flood operation, he said, hundreds of Gaza residents were executed after being detained, with reports indicating around 1,000 detainees killed by occupation forces.

Barakat warned that recent Knesset steps aim to legalize the annexation of the occupied West Bank and intensify the targeting of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement. He described the Zionist entity’s claims of observing a ceasefire as “a blatant lie,” citing Lebanon as an example where more than eleven months have passed since a ceasefire agreement that the occupation continues to violate.

He also denounced the acceptance of the United States—the greatest enemy of the region—as a guarantor of ceasefire agreements, noting that neither European nor Arab regimes have the will or independence to ensure any deal, as they act as “servants of colonial powers.”

Barakat concluded that the Zionist entity holds Arab regimes in contempt, dealing exclusively with Washington in all negotiations and guarantees.

The remarks come amid a sharp escalation by the Israeli enemy across Gaza and the occupied West Bank. Despite growing international calls for a ceasefire, the occupation continues raids, assassinations, and demolitions under the guise of “security operations,” while US-backed initiatives remain widely dismissed as lacking credibility, given Washington’s role as the chief sponsor and protector of the Zionist entity’s ongoing war crimes.
