The financial movements are reported to have intensified following the recent detention of PLC member Othman Majali in Jordan. Majali was apprehended while attempting to transfer hundreds of millions of dollars, funds which he reportedly claimed were for property purchases. The incident has sparked fears among other faction leaders about the potential seizure of suspicious assets.
One figure named in the reports is Ahmed Obaid bin Daghr, the head of a Shura Council aligned with the Saudi- UAE occupation. He has recently made a series of massive investments abroad, including establishing a factory and a packaging center in Egypt with a cost nearing $100 million, alongside the purchase of numerous luxury villas and apartments in and around Cairo. Similar investments are reported in Jordan.
Analysts suggest these moves represent a hurried effort to launder money amassed during the years of aggression and occupation, coinciding with increasing international pressure for financial reforms within institutions linked to the Saudi-led coalition. The reports paint a picture of deep-seated corruption, where leaders accumulate billions while millions of Yemenis suffer under a severe economic collapse and a lack of basic services.
