Senior Yemeni Figure Vows to Reclaim Occupied South, Criticizes Saudi Role in War

News - Yemen: Qassem Luboza, a senior figure in the General People's Congress and former deputy head of the Supreme Political Council, has issued a forceful declaration that the Yemeni people will not cede "a single inch" of Yemeni territory to "invaders and occupiers."

In a detailed television interview, Luboza called on "all free people" in the occupied southern and eastern provinces to mobilize to expel what he termed "the new colonists," framing it as a national duty. He emphasized the need for a clear, comprehensive political project to guide this effort, learning from the mistakes of the past.

Luboza reserved his strongest criticism for Saudi Arabia, accusing it of implementing a foundational mandate to prevent a stable and powerful Yemen. He asserted that the 2015 military aggression was launched precisely when Yemenis were united in a national dialogue, explaining that it revealed Saudi Arabia as a "rogue and weak state" that reneges on its agreements.

The senior official boasted of Yemen's military achievements, stating that Yemeni Armed Forces had "humiliated the aggressors" and surprised the coalition with their developing capabilities despite a siege.

Luboza argued that Yemen has become a "formidable player" in the region, forcing neighbors like Saudi Arabia to "think a thousand times" before any action, as they could no longer rely on Western allies for defense. He characterized the coalition's focus on humanitarian issues and prisoner exchanges as a tactic to avoid serious political dialogue, accusing them of not wanting a genuine peace.

Despite the defiant rhetoric, Luboza reiterated that the Sana'a leadership extends a hand for peace, but warned, "if that does not happen, the stick is ready." This stance underscores the dual strategy of the Sana'a authorities: maintaining a firm military posture while keeping the door open for negotiations, all from a self-proclaimed position of strength.

Since 2015, Saudi-UAE occupation authorities have maintained tight control over southern Yemen, relying on fragmented local forces and rival administrations. Years of corruption, mismanagement, and the diversion of revenues have led to repeated fuel shortages and long-term electricity failures, especially during summer months. The ongoing collapse of essential services continues to fuel public anger and deepen the divide between residents and the pro-aggression authorities.
