Rights Group Condemns New US–Saudi–UAE Aggression Crime After Woman Killed by Remnant Munition in Al-Jawf

News - Yemen: The Entesaf Organization for Women and Child Rights condemned, in the strongest terms, the new crime committed by the US–Saudi–UAE aggression in Al-Jawf, following the death of a woman who was killed by an explosive remnant of war while tending livestock in Al-Maslub district on Tuesday.

In a statement, the organization said the incident is part of a long series of systematic violations targeting civilians, carried out with no regard for international humanitarian law or the sanctity of human life.

The statement explained that the widespread presence of unexploded munitions in agricultural and rural areas of Al-Jawf has placed women and children in constant danger. The aggression, it said, continues to ignore international calls to clear unexploded ordnance left behind by years of bombing, leading to repeated casualties and deepening the social and economic devastation caused by the war imposed on Yemen for more than a decade.

Entesaf stressed that targeting civilians constitutes a grave breach of international humanitarian law, which prohibits exposing non-combatants to threats endangering their lives and safety. It added that the Al-Maslub incident reflects the coalition’s deliberate violations of core humanitarian principles—particularly the principles of humanity, distinction, and proportionality—making these actions war crimes and crimes against humanity under international legal standards.

The organization held the US, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and their local tools fully responsible for all crimes committed against civilians, including those targeting women and children—the most vulnerable groups. It called for urgent international investigations and criminal accountability for all those involved, noting that impunity has emboldened the coalition to continue its violations without restraint.

Entesaf expressed deep regret over the “shameful silence” of the United Nations and the Security Council, saying their inaction represents a clear abandonment of humanitarian obligations and directly enables the coalition to persist in committing crimes against Yemenis. The group urged the international community and human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities and confront the severe abuses threatening millions across Yemen amid an ongoing humanitarian catastrophe.

Over a decade of US–Saudi–UAE aggression on Yemen has left vast areas—especially rural and agricultural regions—contaminated with unexploded ordnance and remnants of airstrikes. These explosives continue to kill and injure civilians, particularly women and children who rely on farming and herding for their livelihoods. Rights organizations say the failure to clear these remnants, despite repeated international appeals, reflects the broader pattern of systematic violations committed by the coalition against Yemen’s civilian population.
