News - Middle East: The deputy commander-in-chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has issued a firm warning to the United States and its allies regarding the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, saying the security of the strategic waterway is a “red line” for Iran and a core mission of the IRGC.

Speaking on the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz, Brigadier General Ali Fadavi emphasized its non-negotiable role in global energy stability.

“More than 20 million barrels of oil pass through this waterway daily, and the world is dependent on the energy of the Persian Gulf,” he stated.

He placed a premium on the geopolitical reality that, given Iran’s and Qatar’s vast gas reserves, “the entire world knows that no country is capable of diminishing the role of the Strait of Hormuz.”

General Fadavi said the IRGC is fully prepared to protect this strategic region with “full power” across maritime, ground, and air domains. “If the enemy seeks to threaten our security, we will confront them with all our might.”

He condemned the aggressive actions of the United States and the Zionist regime, labeling them as the primary instigators of global insecurity from the Persian Gulf to Latin America.

General Fadavi’s remarks come amid heightened regional tensions following the 12-day aggression of June by the US and the Israeli regime, which prompted Iran’s retaliatory missile and drone strikes on the Israeli-occupied territories and a US military base in Qatar.

Tehran views the continued presence and provocative actions of extra-regional military forces as the main source of insecurity, creating a volatile environment where the threat of conflict remains constant.
