Federation of Yemeni Trade Unions Affirms Its Solidarity with Workers, People of Niger

News - World: The General Federation of Yemeni Trade Unions affirmed its solidarity with the workers and people of Niger and their natural and legitimate right to self-determination and building their independent state.

The Union blessed in a statement, Wednesday, the struggles of the people of Niger for their freedom, independence, and the restoration of all their usurped rights.

He also called on all organizations, governments and free peoples to support the people of Niger in their free aspirations to get rid of French colonialism.

The statement also called on the French government to respect the will of the people of Niger, pointing out that the stay of the French ambassador in Niamey revealed Paris' insistence on denying the will of the people of Niger and the desire to continue robbing their wealth.

The statement considered any foreign military intervention against the interest of the Republic of Niger and its people who aspire to sovereignty, independence, liberation and the establishment of a democratic system that respects the will of the people and the rule of law.

For his part, the head of the National Delegation, Mohammed Abdulsalam, described any foreign military intervention in Niger as "condemned and rejected."

In his tweet on the (X), Abdulsalam said, "France must respect the will of the people of Niger, who aspire to freedom and sovereignty, after decades of colonial plundering of the country's wealth."

Niger’s army generals overthrew the country’s Paris-allied President Mohamed Bazoum on July 26. Ever since Nigerians have accused France of seeking to intervene militarily in the West African country to reinstate Bazoum.

The military takeover in Niger came amid a growing wave of anti-French sentiment, with the people of Niger accusing the European country of interfering in their affairs.

Since the takeover, Nigerians have on several occasions come out in force to display support for the military leaders and reject former Western-backed authorities.

Earlier this month, thousands of anti-West protesters took to the streets to protest against plans by West African nations to deploy a military force to the country.

The protesters surrounded the French military base in Niger, protesting against years of military intervention by the European country in the West African nation.

France was a colonial power in West Africa until 1960. Since independence, the European country has maintained trade relations and a military presence in the region.
