These crimes resulted in 32 martyrs and 39 injured, including children and women, as well as the displacement of dozens of families, the destruction of livelihoods, extensive damage to properties and businesses, and an exacerbation of suffering. The scenes of brutality shook the conscience of the world, representing blatant violations of humanitarian and human rights laws.
Below are the key details:
2016: 30 Casualties in a War Crime and Genocide at Vital Markets in Nihm, Sana'a
On February 13, 2016, the US-Saudi aggression added two more crimes—war crime and genocide—to its ongoing atrocities against Yemeni civilians and civilian objects. This time, the aggression launched direct and brutal airstrikes on two popular markets in Nihm District, Sana'a Governorate, killing and injuring 30 civilians, causing widespread destruction, inflicting heavy property losses, and spreading fear among residents. This act constituted a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, which prohibits targeting populated areas and civilian gatherings.
2017: 6 Martyrs and Injured in US-Saudi Aggression Airstrikes on the Transportation Facility at Hodeidah Port
On this day in 2017, the US-Saudi aggression committed yet another war crime, targeting the transportation facility adjacent to Hodeidah Port in Al-Mina District. The direct airstrike resulted in two martyrs and four injured, in addition to massive destruction at the site and widespread fear among nearby residents.
This facility was not just a loading dock—it was the last hope for thousands of families awaiting shipments of flour to feed their children. The airstrike turned it into a graveyard, leaving only four survivors, including a pregnant woman, who were rushed to an overcrowded field hospital. Meanwhile, the bodies of two martyrs remained trapped under the rubble, awaiting rescue efforts that were delayed for hours.
2017: 7 Martyrs and Injured in a Vehicle Incinerated by Airstrikes in Sa'adah
On that same day, another brutal crime unfolded in Sa'adah. A simple, rusted vehicle belonging to citizen Abdullah Qasim was transporting sacks of wheat from the market to his remote village in Al-Dhameena, Baqim District. However, an aggression warplane turned it into a fiery inferno.
2017: Child Killed by a Cluster Bomb in Bani Matar, Sana'a
That same day, another crime unfolded in Sana'a Governorate when a cluster bomb left behind by the aggression exploded in Al-Khadraa, Bani Matar District, killing a six-year-old child who mistook it for a toy.
This was not the first cluster bomb to kill in Bani Matar, but it was one of the most devastating cases. The villagers now live in constant fear—every step could be their last.
These crimes, spanning multiple years on February 13, reveal a consistent pattern of targeting civilians and vital infrastructure, proving that the aggression is not merely conducting military operations but systematically committing war crimes against the Yemeni people.
