News- Yemen: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Yemen expressed deep concern over reports that a detention facility in Sa'adah was bombed early Monday morning.

In a statement, the ICRC said: “Yemeni Red Crescent teams are working intensively in the field to provide humanitarian support, including evacuating the wounded to hospitals and delivering urgent medical care. Efforts are also underway to ensure the dignified management of the deceased.”

The organization confirmed that it is “in continuous contact with the relevant authorities to assess the situation and respond to urgent humanitarian needs.”

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) also expressed deep sorrow over “reports of heavy loss of life in Sa’adah, Yemen.”

The IOM affirmed its commitment to “closely monitor the situation and remain ready to provide support as needed,” emphasizing that “every effort must be made to prevent harm to civilians and protect the most vulnerable under these difficult conditions.”

US airstrikes targeted a migrant shelter in Sa'adah housing 115 African migrants. The attack resulted in at least 60 deaths and over 65 injuries, with many of the wounded in critical condition.

The destruction of the shelter severely hampered rescue operations, as teams faced difficulties due to the extent of the damage.

This attack is part of a broader pattern of US airstrikes on civilian infrastructure in Yemen, fueling widespread condemnation from local and international human rights organizations. Calls for accountability and an end to the aggression continue to grow.
