Yemen's Foreign Ministry Condemns Israeli Crime of Targeting ‘Freedom Flotilla’ Vessel

Yemen's Foreign Ministry Condemns Israeli Crime of Targeting ‘Freedom Flotilla’ Vessel

News - Yemen:   The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a series of strongly worded statements Saturday, condemning Israel's ongoing military actions in Gaza and calling for immediate international and regional intervention.

The ministry warned of the "Zionist enemy's persistence in committing genocide crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza," holding Israel accountable for its escalating violence and systematic destruction.

In the statement, the ministry declared that Israel's actions "undermine the international order, international laws, and global security and peace." It accused the Israeli government of disregarding legal and humanitarian norms with its continued assault on Gaza.

Yemen also condemned Israel's reported targeting of the Freedom Flotilla vessel carrying humanitarian aid to the besieged Gaza Strip. The ministry described the attack as a blatant violation of maritime law and an effort to maintain the blockade on the Palestinian territory.

The Foreign Ministry further accused the United States of being "a partner of the Zionist enemy in all the crimes committed against the Palestinian people," criticizing Washington for its political and military support of Israel.

Finally, Yemen urged Arab and Islamic nations to "wake up and force the enemy to end its aggression and siege on Gaza." The statement emphasized the need for collective action to stop the violence and hold Israel accountable.

The statements reflect growing regional outrage over the war in Gaza, with Yemen joining other nations in demanding an immediate end to the bloodshed.

A vessel belonging to the Gaza Freedom Flotilla came under attack by an Israeli drone strike in international waters near Malta, while it was attempting to bring humanitarian aid to the besieged Palestinian territory. The attack caused an explosion and fire.

The Maltese government said the fire was brought under control, adding that 16 people were on board.

But the Freedom Flotilla Coalition said thirty people were aboard the vessel when the attack occurred, adding that the targeted ship sent a distress signal.

The drone strike took place as the Freedom Flotilla is campaigning to end the Tel Aviv regime’s siege of Gaza, which is exacerbating the humanitarian situation and causing severe shortages of basic necessities, including food and medical supplies.

In March, the Israeli regime's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, banned aid deliveries into Gaza in a move he said was meant to pressure Hamas into accepting an extension of the first stage of the ceasefire deal, which Israel broke.

Israeli minister of military affairs Israel Katz recently said no preparations were being made to bring supplies into the strip.

Katz further said the regime would not allow any humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, confirming that food is being used as a tool of pressure against Hamas.

It has been several weeks since Israel has blocked the entry of food, medicine and other critical supplies.

Aid agencies say there are concerns of a full-blown famine taking hold across the blockaded Palestinian territory.
