Yemen's Resilience Exposes Arab Political Weakness and Western-Israeli Divisions, Says Expert

News - Yemen: Jihad Saad, Director of the Global Center for Studies and Documentation, stated that recent developments have revealed a historic shift in U.S.-Israeli relations, marking the first clear divergence in their positions since October 7.

He attributed this change to Yemen’s steadfast resistance against what he described as "the most formidable forces on Earth," asserting that Yemen’s military pressure has forced a visible rift in American and Israeli strategic calculations.

In an interview with Almasirah TV, Dr. Saad argued that Yemen’s achievements—despite its limited resources—prove that the Arab world’s weakness is not due to a lack of capability but rather a "crisis of political will." He criticized Arab governments for serving U.S. and Israeli interests, accusing them of actively contributing to the fragmentation of the Arab and Islamic world, as seen in Sudan, Syria, and the West Bank.

A Crisis of Leadership and Islamic Identity
Saad traced the root of the problem to a distorted political culture in the Muslim world, where rulers—rather than the people—dictate religious and political authority. He argued that Islam originally empowered the ummah (nation) to establish governments and hold them accountable, but today’s Arab regimes have reversed this principle, suppressing dissent and serving foreign agendas.

"The regimes governing the Islamic world today are not just passive tools of the U.S. and Israel—they are active implementers of their destructive plans," he said, warning that these governments are complicit in the oppression of their own people.

Yemen’s Contrast with the Arab World
Saad highlighted a stark contrast between Yemen’s resistance and the submission of other Arab states. While Yemen stands as a symbol of "light, achievement, and clarity." He described the rest of the Arab world as mired in "darkness and corruption" under oppressive rulers.

He particularly condemned the Arab world’s complicity in Gaza’s siege, where borders remain closed to facilitate Israel’s military campaign. "The official Arab system treats those who resist U.S.-Israeli dominance as enemies, while allowing Israel to kill them with impunity," he said.

A Message to the U.S. and Israel: Power Lies in Resistance
Saad concluded that Yemen’s defiance has sent a clear message: American and Israeli power only persists because they face no real resistance. He warned that Arab regimes, state media, and religious figures aligned with rulers have sunk to unprecedented levels of degradation in serving foreign agendas.

"The Yemeni experience proves that when a nation decides to resist, even the strongest adversaries can be challenged," he said. "The question now is whether the rest of the Arab world will awaken—or remain trapped in subservience."

Saad’s remarks underscore Yemen’s growing symbolic role in regional resistance movements, framing its struggle as both a military and ideological challenge to Western-Israeli dominance. His critique of Arab regimes reflects deepening disillusionment with traditional leadership, positioning Yemen as a contrast to what he sees as a morally bankrupt political order.

Trump’s announcement to halt US attacks on Yemen signals a retreat under pressure from sustained Yemeni strikes in the Red Sea. The move, brokered through Omani mediation, reflects Washington’s failure to shield Israel or stop Yemeni operations supporting Gaza.

Yemen had initially targeted only Israeli assets, but after US involvement in March, American forces became targets. Intense Yemeni attacks forced a US pullback, exposing Israel and revealing a split in US-Israeli coordination.

Regardless of the ceasefire with the US, the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik has warned the US, stating that if it becomes involved in any third aggressive round against Yemen, the Yemenis will be fully prepared to confront it.

The leader pointed out that the U.S. significantly escalated its aggression in the second phase to support the Israeli enemy but failed miserably. This escalation did not weaken Yemen’s military capabilities, halt its operations, or break the people’s will.

“Despite the intensified U.S. attacks, the Yemeni people continued to rally in million-man marches across hundreds of squares, demonstrating unparalleled solidarity unmatched anywhere in the world.”
