Yemen’s Escalation Paralyzes Israeli Ports and Airports, Exposes Strategic Weakness

Yemen’s Escalation Paralyzes Israeli Ports and Airports, Exposes Strategic Weakness

News - Middle East: Nizar Nazzal, an expert on Israeli affairs, confirmed that the Israeli occupation is increasingly focusing on the Yemeni front, as Yemen speaks to "Israel" in a language it understands. He noted that statements by the Yemeni Armed Forces' commander about expanding the target range point to a potential escalation, leaving the Israeli enemy unable to curb Yemeni capabilities or stop their targeting efforts—creating significant concern for Israeli security agencies.

In an interview with Al-Masirah TV, Nazzal said that Yemen is operating under a well-planned strategy, launching an unprecedented escalation by striking Haifa Port. This has raised Israeli fears, especially since the Port of Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) remains closed and covered in dust. He affirmed that the Yemeni strike on Ben Gurion Airport has disrupted Israeli security and military institutions, with many airlines now avoiding the airport—signaling a serious escalation.

He added that Yemen is systematically working to control Israeli air and sea navigation. Daily missile strikes on airports in occupied Palestine have severely disrupted Israeli air traffic. He also warned of potential escalations targeting Ashdod and Haifa ports or even sites beyond "Israel’s" borders, complicating the situation across all fronts—front, rear, left, and right. This, in turn, will affect Israeli trade, tourism, and international connectivity.

As for possible solutions, Nazzal pointed out that Israeli media acknowledge there is no real resolution to the crisis. While the United States is seeking ways to weaken Yemen’s military capabilities, reality shows the challenge is far greater—especially given Yemen’s geography, which enables the storage of weapons and missiles deep within its mountainous terrain, making them hard to target.

If the conflict intensifies, he said, Yemen may act on two fronts:

Deep strikes into Israeli territory using drones and hypersonic ballistic missiles.

Enhancing its air defense systems to intercept missiles launched from Israel's base in Eritrea.

He emphasized that Israel's greatest fear is the downing of fighter jets, which would cause major embarrassment for its air force and military establishment—particularly after the US signed a ceasefire agreement with Yemen that notably excluded "Israel."

Since the onset of the war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemen has emerged as a significant regional player confronting Israel through consistent missile and drone operations. The Yemeni Armed Forces, aligned with the resistance axis, have expanded their targeting scope to include strategic Israeli infrastructure, particularly airports and seaports. These actions aim to pressure Israel into ending its aggression on Gaza and lifting the siege.

With increasing daily alerts and the shutdown of key transit hubs, Israel’s economy and tourism sector are under severe strain. Meanwhile, diplomatic and military channels appear limited in their ability to counter Yemen’s geographically and tactically fortified operations.
