News - Middle East: In a strongly worded joint statement, the foreign ministers of 21 Arab and Islamic countries condemned the “brutal aggression” by the Israeli regime against Iran, warning of grave regional consequences if tensions continue to escalate.

The joint communiqué, signed by the foreign ministers of Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Somalia, Libya, Mauritania, Pakistan, Turkey, Chad, and Brunei, expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation and called for an immediate halt to Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic.

“The escalation of such tensions poses serious threats to the security and stability of the entire region,” the statement warned, emphasizing that continued Israeli attacks on Iran could lead to dangerous repercussions.

The ministers also stressed the importance of protecting nuclear facilities that are under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) safeguards, in line with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, while referring to the Israeli attack on the Natanz nuclear facility in the central Iranian city of Isfahan.

They described any attack on nuclear installations as a clear violation of international and humanitarian law.

Reaffirming their commitment to non-proliferation, the ministers called on all regional countries to swiftly join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

The foreign ministers rejected and condemned all Israeli acts of aggression against Iran that violate international law and the UN Charter, and called for de-escalation efforts and stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire to avoid further instability in the region.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has had phone calls with a number of his counterparts from West Asia and Europe in recent days, urging them to take a stand against the Israeli regime’s continued aggression against the Islamic Republic.

The aggression has resulted in the assassination of many top-ranking commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians, including women and children.
