News- Middle East: Hamas has strongly condemned Israel for intensifying airstrikes on Gaza City and leveling thousands of residential buildings, schools, and shelters for displaced families, saying the attacks are worse than the atrocities committed by the Nazis.

“The brutal attack launched by the terrorist occupation army on Gaza City, through concentrated bombardment of residential neighborhoods and schools sheltering displaced people west of the city, represents a crime whose savagery has surpassed Nazism, as the world has known it,” the Gaza-based group said in a statement on Saturday.

Hamas added that the cabinet of the war criminal Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues its disregard for international laws, and presses ahead with its defiance of international humanitarian values by escalating its criminal operations against more than a million citizens in Gaza City.

The Palestinian movement highlighted that Gazans face crimes of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement being committed before the eyes of the international community.

It called upon world nations, freedom-loving people, as well as Arab and Muslim countries, to take serious and urgent action aimed at the revival of the system of humanitarian values and laws, and rejection of the unjust US will that provides protection to war criminals, leaders of the fascist occupation, and grants the rogue Zionist entity immunity that places it above accountability.

Hamas also urged free peoples to intensify their actions in support of Gaza, exert pressure through all available means, stage protest demonstrations in public spaces, and continue the march of solidarity until the ongoing crime of genocide ceases.

In the meantime, Gaza’s Government Media Office said in a statement that Israeli forces have caused “the complete destruction of more than 1,600 multi-storey residential towers and buildings, the severe destruction of more than 2,000 residential towers and buildings, and the destruction of more than 13,000 tents housing displaced persons”.

Since the start of September, Israeli forces have “destroyed and demolished 70 residential towers and buildings, severely destroyed 120 residential towers and buildings, and more than 3,500 tents,” the statement read.

Israel has been destroying the high-rise buildings in Gaza City, leveling entire blocks that previously accommodated thousands of residents.

The Palestinian Civil Defense reported that a minimum of 50 multistory buildings have been demolished in recent weeks as Israeli forces intensify their attack on the city, coinciding with a surge in forced displacements.

Certain neighborhoods have experienced almost complete devastation. In the Zeitoun region of Gaza City alone, over 1,500 homes and structures have been obliterated since the beginning of August, resulting in sections of the area being devoid of any standing buildings.

The Israeli military has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since October 7, 2023, dismissing international appeals for a ceasefire, resulting in the deaths of at least 64,803 Palestinians, predominantly women and children.

The unrelenting airstrikes have ravaged the region and caused significant food shortages.
