Military Expert: Yemeni Military Operations Mark 'Strategic Shift'

News - Yemen: A senior Yemeni military strategist has described the latest missile and drone strikes against Israeli targets as a “strategic breakthrough” that underscores the growing capabilities of Yemen’s Armed Forces in confronting the Israeli occupation.

Brigadier General Aziz Rashid, a military and strategic affairs expert, commented on Monday’s operation announced by the Yemeni Armed Forces, which included the launch of a new “Palestine-2” multi-warhead ballistic missile targeting occupied Jaffa, alongside drone strikes on the southern city of Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat).

Rashid stressed that the continuous operations have become “effective and successful,” representing a major intelligence, security, and military challenge to Israeli enemy. He noted that the strikes penetrate Israel’s strategic, economic, and security depth, forcing senior Israeli enemy officials to admit their inability to prevent or respond effectively to Yemeni attacks.

He described the new Palestine-2 missile as a supersonic, maneuverable weapon capable of striking high-value targets with precision, calling its deployment “a strategic move that cripples selected sites.” By contrast, the drone strikes on Umm Al-Rashrash (Eilat) were labeled “highly significant intelligence operations” that achieved key tactical objectives.

The expert highlighted the special focus on Umm al-Rashrash, which he said serves as Israel’s southernmost outpost, hosting advanced cyber systems, intelligence networks, and command centers. According to Rashid, striking the area carries “deep military, economic, and intelligence implications.”

He further argued that Yemeni operations have succeeded in denying Israeli enemy influence over the Red Sea, limiting its economic and military reach in the region. Attempts by Israeli enemy to secure naval access through Umm Al-Rashrash or through bases in the Eritrean islands of Fatma and Dahlak, he said, have been thwarted by Yemeni ballistic and anti-ship missile capabilities.

Rashid emphasized that Yemen’s growing arsenal now includes more than 25 types of ballistic missiles and over 25 generations of drones, developed and produced domestically. He asserted that the confrontation with Israeli enemy is “not an adventure but a religious, national, and humanitarian duty,” adding that the Yemeni people “have paid the price and will continue the struggle” until Israeli aggression on Palestine and Arab states ceases.

Since formally announcing participation in the support campaign for Gaza, Yemeni forces have increasingly employed long-range missiles and drones against targets across occupied territory and strategic nodes tied to the occupation’s transport and military infrastructure. Analysts cited in regional media have interpreted these developments as a tactical evolution — greater weapon-mix diversity, exploitation of low-altitude profiles and timing, and an emphasis on psychological and logistical disruption as much as on direct material damage.

The latest reported use of a hypersonic, multi-warhead missile signals what the Yemeni military describes as a new phase of reach and lethality, while the synchronized use of UCAVs demonstrates an operational preference for multi-vector attacks designed to complicate interception and increase the chance of mission success.
