News- Middle East: At least three people have been killed and several others wounded in Israeli air attacks on southern Lebanon, medical officials say, in the latest violation of a fragile ceasefire between the Tel Aviv regime and the Arab country that took effect in November 2024.

In a report on Thursday, Lebanon’s official National News Agency cited the Public Health Emergency Operations Center at the Lebanese Health Ministry as saying that two men were targeted in an air raid that hit a car as it was traveling along a road linking the town of Jarmaq to the al-Khardali area.

The victims were later identified as engineers Ahmad Sa’ad and Mustafa Rizk, residents of Kfarreman region, located northeast of Nabatieh, who were on a mission to inspect the damage caused by ongoing Israeli aggression against the nearby towns.

Separately, one person was killed and five people were injured in an Israeli drone strike in the Nabatieh governorate of southern Lebanon.

NNA said that the strike targeted a car in the town of Kafra in the Bint Jbeil district.

After nearly 14 months of war marked by heavy losses and the failure to achieve its objectives in the aggression against Lebanon, Israel was forced to agree to a ceasefire with Hezbollah, which came into effect on November 27, 2024.

Since then, Israeli forces have been carrying out attacks on Lebanon, which involve airstrikes, breaching the ceasefire.

On January 27, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18.

This comes as Israel also maintains its occupation of five important locations in southern Lebanon, including Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill, all of which are located near the border.
