Hamas Decries Israeli Minister Ben-Gvir’s Threats to Execute Palestinian Abductees

News - Middle East: The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has denounced Israeli minister Ben-Gvir’s threats to execute Palestinian abductees as he posted a video of himself standing over a row of abductees lying prone with their hands tied.

Mahmoud Mardawi, a high-ranking official from Hamas, stated that Ben-Gvir’s behavior demonstrated “a dangerous escalation in his aggressive approach toward Palestinian prisoners and highlighted his administration’s continued neglect of international legal standards established to safeguard prisoner rights.”

Mardawi noted that the Israeli minister’s actions go beyond mere verbal provocations, reflecting a broader trend of official incitement targeting the Palestinian nation.

He pointed out that these actions serve to normalize violence and bloodshed against Palestinians, representing a wider campaign of aggression and dehumanization supported by the occupying Tel Aviv regime.

In footage shared on his personal Telegram channel on Friday, Ben-Gvir addresses the camera while pointing at a dozen detainees faced down in front of an Israeli flag.

The Israeli minister and chairman of the Otzma Yehudit party stated that Palestinian abductees are being held under minimal conditions.

“But there’s still something that must be done: the death penalty” for them, he stated.

In a related development, a Palestinian human rights organization that advocates for prisoners condemned the Israeli military for conducting on-site executions of Palestinian detainees following their abduction in the Gaza Strip.

The Asra Media Office announced in a statement that the bodies of several detainees recently returned to Gaza displayed evident signs of torture, such as restraints, burns, and various other injuries, suggesting they endured severe abuse.

Reports indicate some had even been run over by vehicles.

These acts have been characterized as systematic crimes targeting individuals abducted from Gaza.

“Israel’s practice of storing martyrs’ bodies in morgue freezers and burying them in the so-called ‘cemeteries of numbers’ is a deliberate policy aimed at humiliating Palestinians, both living and deceased,” the statement read.

The Asra Media Office stated that these actions represent a clear breach of international humanitarian law.

The Palestinian prisoners’ advocacy group also condemned Ben-Gvir’s latest remarks as “blatant incitement” and a “reflection of the criminal mindset governing the Israel Prison Service.”
