Observers of the debates that took place between members of the Democratic Party to choose the party’s candidate for the presidential elections, as well as the debates between Democratic Party candidate John Biden and US former President Donald Trump, is aware of remarkable interest from everyone, except Trump, for the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Biden has threatened to make Mohammed bin Salman paying a heavy price for that crime.
All Americans are angry at bin Salman for killing Khashoggi. Not the Democratic Party only, but also the Republican Party, especially some who are close to Trump, such as Senator Lindsey Graham. All of them demanded that Bin Salman be punished for his crime, and some of them called for stopping the arm sale to Saudi Arabia, not because it kills Yemenis, but in revenge for Khashoggi!
It is noteworthy that Biden, who is angry at bin Salman for killing Khashoggi, was serving as the US Vice President during the era of Barack Obama, the administration that if it did not support Saudi Arabia, the latter would not have dared launch its aggression against the Yemeni people in 2015, and would not have dared to commit all war crimes against humanity in Yemen during the past six years.
The was better of Joe Biden to "take revenge" on Bin Salman, for killing and wounding hundreds of thousands of the defenseless Yemeni people, who are living today the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, as millions of them were displaced, not only for the murder of Khashoggi, just because he was writing in the "Washington Post"!
No one underestimates the ugliness of Khashoggi's murder, and Biden has the right to be angry at bin Salman, but the ugliness of this crime, is not compared to the ugliness of the murder, displacement, starvation and besieging of over twenty million people for more than six years.
It is difficult to justify Biden’s anger at bin Salman for killing Khashoggi as a humanitarian response. If that were the case, Biden would have exploded with anger and humanity as he heard the head of the World Food Program, David Beasley, saying: If we choose to look away, there’s no doubt in my mind Yemen will be plunged into a devastating famine within a few short months. " Or United Nations Assistant Secretary-General Mark Lowcock is heard saying: “when I think about what famine would mean, I am really at a loss to understand why more is not being done to prevent it. It is a terrible, agonizing and humiliating death. Yemenis are not “going hungry”. They are being starved.
US President Joe Biden knows more than anyone else, that Bin Salman did every crime to apply the collective extermination of the Yemeni people. And that the major crimes he committed in Yemen would not have happened without the political cover provided by the Obama and Trump administrations. Therefore, Biden has to prove his "humanity", by stopping crimes of starving 20 million innocent not only punishing Saudi Arabia for the murder of Khashoggi.
