Israeli media on Tuesday put in spotlight heightened uncertainty among the settlers due in good part to the successful military operations conducted by Hezbollah.
Missile, rocket, and drone attacks by Hezbollah from the onset of the regime’s aggression caused major destruction in many settlements.
The regime has been struggling to secure the return of the settlers.
They say they are scared of the growing power of Hezbollah.
“I’m very worried. I left a home of 32 years and I can’t see a way back,” said a settler from the Avivim settlement in the upper Galilee.
“After 7 October, I don’t want to live in fear anymore. We’re not naive,” she added.
Her husband said, “For a decade, we’ve been abandoned with technology like radars and cameras,” and that “Hezbollah disabled it all on the war’s first day, leaving us exposed.”
Avivim was one of the settlements hit with heavy Hezbollah fire.
According to property tax data obtained by the Israeli daily Ynet in late November, “A disturbing partial image emerges that indicates destruction and damage to approximately 9,000 buildings and over 7,000 vehicles that were damaged mainly by Hezbollah fire.”
Ynet said, “About NIS 140 million [$38,368,316] has been paid to compensate for the damages.”
A large 2025 budget to rebuild the damaged infrastructure has been “frozen,” according to a senior Israeli finance ministry source cited by Ynet on Tuesday.
