Islamophobic Politician Rasmus Paludan Repeats Holy Qur’an Desecration in Denmark

News - World: Swedish-Danish Islamophobic politician Rasmus Paludan has once again desecrated the Holy Qur’an by burning a copy of Islam’s most revered book in the Danish capital city of Copenhagen.

Paludan, the 43-year-old founder and leader of the Danish nationalist anti-immigration party Stram Kurs, has once again sparked controversy by committing the sacrilegious act outside the Turkish embassy in Denmark.

A video published on a social media platform shows Paludan desecrating the Holy Qur’an, a deeply offensive act to Muslims worldwide.

On Friday, the Danish police announced that Paludan, based on a “concrete assessment,” is prohibited from demonstrating in Copenhagen for the next 24 hours.

Paludan’s recent desecration of the Holy Qur’an came after the murder of Iraqi immigrant Salwan Momika at his apartment in the city of Sodertalje on January 30.

Momika’s repeated desecration of the copies of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden also outraged Muslims and non-Muslims across the world.

The 38-year-old staged several blasphemous burnings and desecrations of Islam’s holy book in Sweden in 2023. Videos of the Qur’an burnings got worldwide publicity and raised anger and criticism in Muslim nations, leading to riots and unrest in many places.

Iraq’s Foreign Ministry called on Sweden in 2023 to extradite the Iraqi man so that he could be tried according to the country’s laws.

The Ministry emphasized that Momika’s heinous act, which is an insult to religious sanctities, had hurt the feelings of Muslims all over the world.

Paludan, too, is known for provoking Muslims’ religious sentiments by burning copies of the Holy Qur’an in Sweden and Denmark.

The Copenhagen City Court on November 22 last year convicted the far-right politician after finding him guilty of racism based on a statement he made during a demonstration in 2019.

Earlier that month, Paludan was sentenced to four months in prison in Sweden for smearing against Muslims.

He has also previously been convicted in Denmark for racism and defamation, among other things.

The Qur’an burnings in Sweden and Denmark, which took place in the summer of 2023 under the pretext of free speech, have sparked angry protests in many Arab and Muslim countries – including Iran, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Kuwait.
