Governor of Aden: Dire Living Conditions Spark Growing Public Anger Against Occupation

News - Yemen: The Governor of Aden, Tariq Salam, stated that the living conditions of citizens in Aden and other occupied governorates have reached dangerously critical levels due to the destructive policies of the occupying forces.

He asserted that the Saudi-Emirati occupation’s deliberate starvation of the population reflects hidden objectives that the occupiers have tried to conceal from the people of Aden. He added, “The growing anger and peaceful protests by citizens demonstrate a collective popular will to expel the occupiers and their agents, who are plundering the nation’s wealth and resources.”

Salam further stressed, “The occupation militias’ assaults and repression of peaceful demonstrations will not suppress the escalating public outrage against the occupiers and their collaborators.”

For the third consecutive day, Aden has witnessed widespread protests against the collapse of electricity services, the deteriorating economic and living conditions, and worsening crises in essential services and healthcare.

Protesters have blocked streets across several districts—including Sheikh Othman, Al-Mansoura, Khormaksar, and Al-Qaloua—using burning tires and stones, leading to a near-total paralysis of traffic movement.

Aden, a key stronghold of the Saudi-backed government, has been grappling with a prolonged deterioration of essential public services, particularly electricity. Despite having five power generation stations, residents continue to suffer from persistent outages, especially during the scorching summer months, further exacerbating their daily struggles.

The crisis has been further aggravated by the recent theft of fuel from the Petro-Messila Power Station by forces aligned with the UAE-backed Transitional Council, plunging Aden into even greater darkness. This incident underscores the ongoing mismanagement and lack of accountability, leaving Aden’s residents to suffer under increasingly dire conditions.
