News - Yemen: The Eye of Humanity Center for Rights and Development has condemned the heinous crime committed by members of the terrorist Islah Party, who set fire to the historic Al-Arif Billah Ahmad bin Abdullah Al-Hadhrami Mosque in the village of Al-Armah, Jabal Habashi district, Taiz governorate.

In a statement, the center reported that Islah Party members burned down the mosque, a symbol of cultural and religious heritage, because citizens were observing the night of mid-Sha'ban there.

The statement asserted that this criminal act is not only an attack on a place of worship but also a blatant assault on humanity and the universal values of tolerance and peace upheld by all religions.

It further described the arson as an attempt to erase the community’s cultural and religious identity, stripping it of its historical memory—an integral part of its existence.

The center highlighted that such terrorist acts aim to sow discord, spread fear and hatred, and are entirely incompatible with Islam’s tolerant principles, which forbid the violation of sacred places and call for respect for places of worship, regardless of sectarian or religious affiliation.

It emphasized the urgent need to strengthen international efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms and to protect cultural and religious heritage, which represents a shared legacy of humanity.

The statement called on all relevant parties, including human rights and religious organizations, to take responsibility in confronting these terrorist acts and ensuring that perpetrators and supporters of such groups are held accountable for their efforts to destroy human civilization and spread chaos.

These actions in the occupied provinces constitute war crimes and blatant violations of international human rights and humanitarian law. However, human rights organizations have largely remained silent on these atrocities.
