In a major speech delivered on Friday, December 26, 2025, on the occasion of Yemen’s commemoration of Rajab Friday, Sayyed Abdulmalik addressed the motives behind the ongoing assaults on the Qur’an, including public burnings and deliberate acts of humiliation. He said these actions reflect deep hostility from Jews and global Zionism toward the Qur’an, due to its role in exposing falsehood, injustice, and the schemes of global arrogance.
He stressed that the Holy Qur’an poses a direct threat to oppressive powers, as it elevates human values, ethics, and spirituality, while strengthening the relationship between people and Allah. He added that these forces recognize the Qur’an’s ability to protect societies from moral corruption and deviation, and its promise of divine guidance, support, and victory to those who adhere to its teachings.
Sayyed Abdulmalik explained that the Qur’an also exposes the true nature of Zionism by revealing its psychological traits, intentions, programs, and objectives. This, he said, accounts for persistent efforts to undermine the Qur’an’s sanctity in the hearts of Muslims, beginning with symbolic acts intended to erode its revered status.
He emphasized that acts such as burning copies of the Qur’an are not isolated provocations, but calculated tests designed to gauge the reaction of the Muslim world and measure the depth of Muslims’ attachment to their holy book. “They seek to determine whether the Ummah still holds the Qur’an in high esteem or whether its reverence has weakened,” he said.
The leader strongly criticized the silence of many Muslim rulers in the face of such incidents, noting that while they often take swift positions on trivial issues, they fail to adopt even minimal diplomatic or economic measures to defend the Qur’an. In some cases, he added, their responses are instead directed against those who protest or take a stand against the insults.
He further warned that broad segments of the Muslim community—particularly youth, elites, and educated generations—are being deliberately distanced from the Qur’an through cultural, intellectual, and institutional channels. This process, he said, is carried out via organizations, governments, educational systems, media platforms, workshops, and conferences that promote foreign ideologies detached from Islamic values.
Sayyed Abdulmalik accused the “tyranny of the age” of systematically marginalizing the Qur’an by reshaping educational curricula and cultural narratives across the Muslim world. He said several Arab regimes have adopted Western and Zionist standards as reference frameworks, including in matters related to education and religious content.
As examples, he cited Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries, including Egypt, alleging that their educational systems have been aligned with Western and Zionist criteria that determine which Qur’anic teachings remain in curricula and which are excluded.
He described this shift as a profound and dangerous deviation, warning that placing Western or Zionist standards above the Qur’an constitutes a serious blow to Islamic identity and faith. He concluded by urging Muslims to recognize the gravity of this challenge and to restore the Qur’an as the central reference for culture, education, and moral guidance.
Recent incidents involving the desecration and burning of copies of the Holy Qur’an in several countries have sparked widespread anger across the Muslim world, renewing debate over freedom of expression, religious sanctities, and what many Muslims view as systematic hostility toward Islam and its sacred symbols.
