Key Details:
2016: 5 Injured, 7 Homes Destroyed, and Citizen Properties Targeted in Marib
On February 20, 2016, US-Saudi warplanes launched hysterical airstrikes on Sirwah District in Marib, injuring five civilians, destroying seven homes, and damaging several shops and properties, adding yet another war crime to their record against the Yemeni people.
Scenes of blood, destruction, and horror filled the area as terrified children and women fled, while dozens of families were forced into displacement, losing their security and stability. The strikes left nothing standing—homes were turned to rubble, forcing families to seek shelter in mountain caves or borrowed tents.
2016: Airstrikes Destroy Communication Network in Amran
In another war crime, US-Saudi warplanes targeted the communication network in the Souad district of Amran governorate on February 20, 2016, completely destroying it. This deprived thousands of civilians in the surrounding areas of their right to communicate, isolating them from the outside world and worsening their suffering.
The destruction of infrastructure and public service facilities constitutes a war crime and a violation of all international laws and treaties, necessitating immediate intervention from the UN and the international community to end the aggression, lift the blockade, rebuild the affected areas, and hold the aggressors accountable for their crimes.
2017: Two Martyrs in an Airstrike Targeting Civilian Vehicles in Sa'adah
On February 20, 2017, the US-Saudi aggression committed another war crime, launching airstrikes on two civilian vehicles in Baqim district, Sa'adah governorate. The attack resulted in two martyrs, severed the main road connecting several areas, and destroyed the vehicles and the food supplies they were carrying.
2017: Six Martyrs and Injuries in Hajja
In the early hours of February 20, 2017, the residents of Sha'ab area in Haradh district, Hajja governorate, woke up to the sound of a massive explosion. US-Saudi warplanes had struck the home of Ali Ahmed Dheeb, turning it into a pile of rubble.
The modest home, which sheltered a hardworking Yemeni family struggling for peace, was reduced to ruins. The attack claimed the lives of two martyrs and injured four others, leaving behind heartbreaking scenes—children wailing, women screaming, and men desperately trying to save what remained.
2018: Five Martyrs in a Massacre Targeting a Civilian Truck in Taiz
On the morning of February 20, 2018, Abu Ahmed, a 50-year-old truck driver, prepared to transport stones to support his family and villagers. As he secured his cargo, his young son and several workers accompanied him on the journey.
The truck slowly moved forward, carrying the hopes of an entire family—until a hellish whistle pierced the air, followed by an explosion that shook the mountains. A US-Saudi airstrike had targeted the truck, reducing it to a ball of fire and scattering mutilated bodies.
Despite the passage of years, the aggression and blockade continue to loom over Yemen, serving as a grim reminder that the genocide against Yemenis remains an open season.
