Yemen:
Over the years, particularly on February 22 and 23 in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019, the US-Saudi aggression has carried out relentless airstrikes and indiscriminate bombings in Yemen, targeting homes, vehicles, food trucks, public roads, water wells, markets, and restaurants across several provinces, including Saada, Al-Jawf, Sana'a, Hodeidah, Taiz, Amran, and Marib.
These attacks have resulted in 9 deaths and 29 injuries, including women and children, displacing dozens of families and causing severe humanitarian suffering.
The bombings have left behind scenes of charred and mutilated bodies, destroyed properties, and widespread fear among civilians. The coalition's actions have also hindered the delivery of humanitarian aid, exacerbating the already dire conditions for displaced families.
February 23, 2017: Airstrike on a Restaurant in Taiz
On February 23, 2017, the US-Saudi aggression targeted a restaurant in Al-Burh Market, Taiz, killing 6 civilians and injuring 4. The attack destroyed the restaurant and nearby shops, leaving families without livelihoods and deepening the humanitarian crisis. Witnesses described the scene as horrific, with body parts scattered and blood staining the ground.
February 23, 2017: Bombing of Al-Jawf Province
On the same day, US-Saudi mercenaries launched a brutal attack on Al-Maton district in Al-Jawf, targeting markets and civilian homes. The indiscriminate bombing caused massive destruction, displacing families and leaving children and women traumatized.
February 23, 2017: Airstrike on Marib
In Marib, the coalition targeted the home of Sheikh Saleh bin Ta'iman and other civilian properties, displacing dozens of families. The attack aimed to destabilize the region and terrorize civilians, particularly women and children, who already face severe shortages of food, water, and medicine.
February 23, 2018: Attack on Agricultural Infrastructure in Saadah
In 2018, the coalition targeted a water drilling machine and agricultural vehicles in Saada, destroying vital infrastructure and threatening local food security. Farmers expressed despair, as the destruction of the drilling machine left their crops at risk of drought.
February 22, 2016: Targeting Food Convoys in Al-Jawf and Marib
In 2016, the coalition bombed food convoys in Al-Jawf and Marib, killing civilians and destroying essential supplies. The attacks left families without food and deepened the humanitarian crisis. Survivors described the scenes as horrific, with food supplies mixed with blood and body parts scattered across the ground.
February 22, 2017: Airstrike on a Civilian Car in Saadah
In 2017, the coalition targeted a civilian car in Saada, killing one person and injuring 12, including children. The attack terrorized travelers and local residents, further restricting movement and worsening the humanitarian situation.
February 22, 2019: Attack on Women and Children in Hodeidah
In 2019, coalition-backed mercenaries targeted a woman carrying her infant in Hodeidah, killing her and spreading fear among residents. The attack highlighted the ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement in Hodeidah.
Humanitarian Impact
The attacks have devastated Yemen's civilian infrastructure, displacing thousands and deepening the humanitarian crisis. The destruction of agricultural equipment, food supplies, and water resources has left millions at risk of famine. Despite the devastation, Yemenis continue to resist, but their efforts are hampered by the lack of international support and accountability.
The international community's silence in the face of these war crimes has allowed the coalition to continue its aggression unabated. Yemenis call for immediate action to stop the violence and hold the perpetrators accountable, as these crimes will not be forgotten, no matter how much time passes.
