Feb. 25 Over 9 Years: 32 Casualties in US-Saudi Aggression War Crimes on Yemen

Yemen: Over the years, on February 25 of 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2020, the US-Saudi aggression deliberately committed war crimes, genocide, and the destruction of homes and properties. These crimes occurred in cities, rural villages, and border areas, as well as in a wedding hall under construction, across the governorates of Sa'adah, Dhamar, Sana'a, and Hodeidah.

The bombings resulted in eight martyrs and 24 wounded, displacing dozens of families and exacerbating their suffering. The aftermath left behind harrowing scenes of torn and charred bodies, massive property damage, escalating violations, and horrifying massacres against children and mothers—shameful atrocities against humanity.

2016: War Crime Claims 9 Victims in US-Saudi Airstrike on Sana'a

On the night of February 25, 2016, the residents of Haddin in Sana'a’s Al-Sabeen district were jolted awake by the thunderous explosions of US-Saudi airstrikes. The bombing targeted the home of citizen Mohammed Al-Zubaidi and a wedding hall under construction, reducing them to rubble soaked in blood. The attack resulted in one martyr and eight wounded, terrorizing children and women in their sleep, displacing families, and causing extensive destruction.

The residential home and the wedding hall—intended for joyous celebrations—became the site of a deliberate war crime. Rescue workers struggled to pull survivors from the debris, including a wounded mother trapped beneath her destroyed home, desperately awaiting salvation.

2016: Four Women and Children Martyred and Wounded in US-Saudi Airstrike on Sa'adah

In a massacre targeting childhood and motherhood, US-Saudi warplanes bombed a home in Bani Ma’in, Razih district, Sa'adah. The strike killed a woman and a child while wounding another woman and child, demolishing the house and forcing numerous families to flee in terror.

That afternoon, as the family rested after a long day, their home became a mass grave. The once-safe village of Bani Ma’in turned into ruins, stained with the blood of its inhabitants. The bombing came without warning, with warplanes circling overhead, preventing any immediate rescue efforts. Hours later, villagers with wounded hands dug through the rubble, retrieving the lifeless bodies of a mother and her child.

2017: 16 Victims, Mostly Women and Children, in US-Saudi Airstrike on Dhamar

In another act of war and genocide on February 25, 2017, US-Saudi warplanes struck the home of citizen Thabit Masad Al-Yemeni in Al-Manjida, Haifan, Atma district, Dhamar. The strike claimed four martyrs and left 12 wounded—mostly women and children—destroying the house and terrorizing the community.

That morning, the family began their day like any other: preparing breakfast, children getting ready for school, and elders reciting prayers. Suddenly, the sky roared with the approach of warplanes, unleashing destruction upon their modest home.

The morning’s peaceful sounds were replaced with screams, crumbling walls, and dust clouds. Children who had been preparing for school instead found themselves helping to dig out the remains of their friends and neighbors. Survivors, fearing another attack, fled to the fields, while others assisted in rescue efforts.

2018: Martyr and Injured Citizen in US-Saudi Bombardment on Sa'adah

On February 25, 2018, the US-Saudi coalition added another crime to its record, bombarding homes and farms in the border districts of Razih and Ghamr, Sa'adah. The attacks left one citizen martyred and another wounded, displacing more families and deepening their suffering.

For years, border areas in Sa'adah have been relentlessly bombarded, resulting in forced displacement, mass destruction, and the ruin of essential infrastructure such as schools and hospitals. The aggression follows a scorched-earth policy, turning Saada into a devastated military zone.

2020: Saudi-UAE Aggression Shells Home in Hodeidah

On February 25, 2020, Saudi-Emirati coalition mercenaries committed another war crime in violation of the Stockholm Agreement. They shelled a civilian home in Al-Jarba Al-Olya, Al-Durayhimi district, Hodeidah, causing panic among residents and forcing more families to flee.

These attacks on civilians and civilian structures violate international treaties and threaten the peace process in Yemen. Despite agreements for de-escalation, the aggression continues its assaults on homes, infrastructure, and innocent lives.

The crimes of February 25 are but a fraction of the larger tragedy unfolding in Yemen. Year after year, the US-Saudi aggression continues its massacres against civilians, especially children and women, with impunity.

While the world remains silent, the echoes of these atrocities persist—through the cries of orphans, the wails of grieving mothers, and the ruins of homes that once sheltered families. The call for justice grows louder: How many more innocent lives must be lost before the world acts to end this brutal war?
