Feb. 28 Over 9 Years: Casualties, Home Destruction, Mass Displacement Due to US-Saudi Aggression on Yemen

Yemen: On February 28, during the years 2016, 2017, and 2018, the US-Saudi aggression continued its relentless war crimes and acts of genocide against humanity in Yemen. The aggression carried out airstrikes and deployed mercenaries to bomb homes, farms, educational institutes, and domestic gas stations in the provinces of Saada, Amran, and Dhamar.

These attacks resulted in 8 deaths and 8 injuries, mostly women and children, including a pregnant woman, the assassination of a judge, the death of thousands of poultry and livestock, and widespread material and psychological damage. The systematic destruction of education, the economy, and public and private property has exacerbated the suffering of civilians, leaving them terrified, displaced, and deprived of basic services.

February 28, 2016: Airstrikes Target Technical Institute, Gas Station, and Poultry Farm in Amran
On February 28, 2016, the US-Saudi aggression committed new war crimes by targeting a domestic gas station, a poultry farm in Houth district, and a technical institute in Al-Wark, Amran province. The attacks caused extensive destruction, financial losses, and deprived students of education and families of cooking gas.

In Houth, the poultry farm, filled with thousands of chickens and eggs, was completely destroyed, leaving the owner and workers devastated. A local resident lamented, “What did these chickens do? Why target people’s livelihoods? This is a blatant attack on civilians.”

The technical institute in Al-Wark was also destroyed, depriving hundreds of students of their education. A student expressed outrage, “Why are they destroying our schools and homes? We will continue to learn and fight for our rights.”

February 28, 2017: Assassination of a Judge in Dhamar
On February 28, 2017, Saudi-backed mercenaries assassinated Judge Yahya Musa in Dhamar. The judge was shot dead on his way home, leaving his family and the judicial community in shock.

The assassination of Judge Musa is part of a systematic targeting of Yemen’s judiciary, aimed at destabilizing the country and delaying justice.

February 28, 2018: Massacre in Saada Kills 8, Injures 8
On February 28, 2018, the aggression bombed the home of citizen Ahmed Abu Mash’af in Saadah, killing 8 and injuring 8, mostly women and children. The airstrikes destroyed the house, leaving the family devastated.

Among the victims was a pregnant woman and her unborn child, as well as a young girl who died from severe injuries. This massacre is one of many committed by the aggression, which has repeatedly targeted civilians, schools, and hospitals.

The US-Saudi attacks on Yemen’s infrastructure, education, and economy are war crimes and acts of genocide. The international community’s silence has only emboldened the coalition to continue its brutal campaign, leaving Yemenis to endure unimaginable suffering.
