Protests Continued in Mukalla Over Economic Crisis, Power Outages

News - Yemen: The angry nighttime protests continued in the Saudi-UAE-occupied Hadhramaut province, for the 5th consecutive day amid growing public discontent over deteriorating public services, power outages, and worsening living conditions, as the local currency continues to sharply decline and prices reach record levels.

According to local media reports, protesters on Wednesday blocked several main streets in the Al-Dais area using burning tires, demanding urgent solutions to the deteriorating living conditions and addressing the electricity crisis that has plagued the city for months.

The protesters held up banners condemning the currency collapse, which they described as "clear evidence" of the failure of the mercenary authorities to manage the economic crisis. They also expressed their condemnation of the widespread corruption and the plundering of the province's resources.

The protesters chanted slogans demanding the departure of the local authorities, the government, the Presidential Leadership Council, and the coalition, asserting that the situation has become unbearable.

For the past two weeks, activists have been circulating images of gas smuggling operations via boats to neighboring countries, in addition to the spread of the black market, where the price of household gas in the occupied provinces has reached nearly 25,000 riyals.

The Saudi-Emirati ambition in Yemen faced a southern awakening, which began on the island of Socotra when thousands protested against turning the island into a dependency of Abu Dhabi. Then came the uprising of the people of Al-Mahra in July, demanding sovereignty over the province and rejecting foreign control over the city. The protests expanded to reach the city of Aden, where the UAE has deployed over thirty thousand local military personnel loyal to them.

Hundreds took to the streets demanding the departure of the "coalition" forces from the south, a situation that analysts have compared to the protests in the 1960s against British presence, which laid the foundation for armed struggle in the south.
