The report added that the United States announced last Wednesday sanctions against senior leaders of Ansarullah in Yemen, including their official spokesperson, Mohammed Abdulsalam, and imposed sanctions on seven others.
It noted that these developments come in light of the role Sana’a has played in supporting Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, as well as its support for resistance in Lebanon following the start of the Israeli aggression in September 2024.
The report pointed out that the leader Sayyed Abdulmalik al-Houthi, in his speeches, reaffirmed Yemen’s continued support for the resistance and the peoples of the region.
He stated that Sana’a is closely monitoring developments and the extent of the occupation’s commitment to the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, emphasizing Yemen’s readiness to resume its operations if the entity returns to war and evades its obligations.
The Argentine news network reported that Sana’a’s leadership had previously hinted at closing the Bab al-Mandeb Strait if Yemenis were harmed by any US sanctions or retaliatory actions targeting them for their supportive stance toward Gaza.
It cited Mohammed Ali al-Houthi, a member of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, who stated that Yemen’s support for Gaza is more important than the impact of US sanctions, which he described as “illegitimate.”
Al-Houthi noted that preventing the entry of materials into Gaza and undermining peace agreements constitutes American terrorism, which contradicts the legitimate and principled support Yemen provides to the Palestinian people through maritime operations in the Red Sea to confront the aggression and terrorism of the United States and its temporary entity in Gaza.
The Western report highlighted that the United States has long used terrorist designations as a tool to reinforce its dominance, but the reality in Yemen has changed today. According to sources in Sana'a, this decision may push the Yemeni Armed Forces to impose advanced maritime equations that exceed the expectations of the new US administration, which prioritizes economic concerns.
Earlier, the Trump administration announced the implementation of the decision to classify Ansarullah, which was signed at the beginning of the year.
This decision comes amid Yemen’s military support for Palestine, particularly in the battle against the Israeli genocide in Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, and continued until January 19, 2025. The conflict resulted in over 160 thousand Palestinian martyrs and injuries, more than 14,000 missing, and widespread destruction in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Yemeni forces succeeded in launching regular and escalating attacks using hypersonic, ballistic, and cruise missiles, as well as drones, on Israeli targets, including its core centers and the capital of the occupied entity, Tel Aviv.
The U.S. and the UK failed to break the Yemeni blockade for over a year, with Yemeni forces forcing Western fleets, including four U.S. aircraft carriers, to withdraw from the operational theater in the Red and Arabian Seas.
Washington continues to exert economic pressure on Yemen to halt its support for Palestine, but Yemen has firmly rejected this, signaling that the U.S. should expect a response from Yemen regarding this latest designation.
