March 9th: A Day of War Crimes in Yemen, Civilian Lives Shattered by US-Saudi Attacks

Yemen: The US-Saudi aggression and its mercenaries have committed numerous war crimes in Yemen on March 9th in the years 2016, 2017, and 2018. These attacks targeted residential areas, homes, farms, and healthcare facilities in the provinces of Saadah, Hajjah, and Taiz, resulting in civilian casualties, displacement, and severe humanitarian crises.

March 9, 2016: Airstrike on a Family Home in Saadah

A US-Saudi airstrike destroyed a civilian home in Saadah, killing and injuring several family members, including children.

The attack left the family homeless and devastated, with survivors recounting the horror of losing their home and belongings. The strike raised serious questions about violations of international humanitarian law, as there was no evidence of military activity in the area. Human rights organizations condemned the attack, but no international accountability followed.

March 9, 2017: Attack on a Home in Hajjah
In Hajjah, airstrikes targeted the home of a prominent tribal leader, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Muqaddam, killing three women and children and injuring others.

The attack was seen as a deliberate attempt to destabilize the social fabric of Yemen by targeting community leaders. Locals expressed outrage, questioning how such attacks on civilians could be justified. Legal experts labeled it a war crime, but international inaction allowed such violations to continue.

March 9, 2018: Strikes on Residential Areas and Health Facilities in Saadah
On this day, airstrikes and artillery fire hit residential areas and a health unit in Saadah, killing an elderly woman and destroying homes and farms. The attacks left families without shelter, food, or access to medical care, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

Survivors described the devastation, with one child questioning why their home was targeted when they had no involvement in the conflict. The destruction of the health unit, marked by a sign declaring it protected under international law, highlighted the coalition’s disregard for civilian lives.

March 9, 2018: Artillery Attack on Children in Taiz

In Taiz, US-Saudi mercenaries’ artillery fire injured four children who were playing near their homes. The attack left deep physical and psychological scars on the victims and their families. This incident underscored the coalition’s policy of collective punishment against Yemeni civilians, particularly in areas resisting foreign intervention. Legal experts emphasized that targeting children and residential areas constitutes a clear war crime, demanding international investigation and accountability.

These incidents reflect the broader tragedy of the US-Saudi aggression against Yemen, where civilians bear the brunt of it, and the world remains silent. The repeated targeting of homes, families, and essential infrastructure underscores the urgent need for international intervention to end the violence and hold perpetrators accountable.
