Euro-Med Monitor: "Israel" Killed 145 Palestinians in Gaza During Ceasefire

Euro-Med Monitor:

News- Middle East: The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor reported that "Israel" has killed 145 Palestinians, with an average of 7 people every two days, since the ceasefire on January 19, 2025. It stated that Israel is using siege and starvation as tools of slow death as part of the genocide in the Gaza Strip.

The monitor's statement, issued on Tuesday, said its field team documented the continued crimes of murder committed by the occupation forces, whether by sniper fire, "Quadcopter" drones, or drone attacks, targeting Palestinian civilians, especially while attempting to check their homes near the buffer zone imposed along Gaza’s northern and eastern borders.

It mentioned that an Israeli drone killed Abdullah Ali Al-Shaar on Monday evening and injured another person east of Rafah while they were in a safe area.

The monitor warned that its field team also documented the martyrdom of other Palestinians due to repeated airstrikes on the Shujaiya neighborhood east of Gaza City and the town of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip since the beginning of March.

It clarified that Israel has killed 145 Palestinians since the ceasefire, averaging 4 per day, and injured 605 others, averaging 15 per day. This confirms that Israel continues its systematic targeting of Palestinians in Gaza without any military justification, despite the cessation of hostilities.
The monitor emphasized that Israel has not only carried out large-scale killings and destroyed most of Gaza over 15 months, but it is also escalating its genocide policies by imposing more lethal living conditions that lead to gradual and slow death.

This is through an illegal total siege that suffocates the Strip by preventing humanitarian aid and essential materials from entering, hindering the repair of infrastructure and necessary services for the survival of the population, amid the lack of any effective international intervention.

It warned of an imminent humanitarian catastrophe due to the ongoing siege, as markets are witnessing a shortage of goods and aid, and many relief centers have stopped working due to the continuous closure of Gaza’s crossings and the blocking of supplies since March 2, worsening the suffering of civilians and pushing them toward inevitable famine.

It highlighted that severe malnutrition during critical stages of growth weakens the immune system, increases the risk of fatal diseases, and causes severe delays in cognitive and motor development, leaving permanent health effects that cannot be reversed even if conditions improve later.

The report stated that these damages are irreversible, not just a passing humanitarian crisis, but a systematic policy to destroy entire Palestinian generations, which constitutes the literal execution of genocide under the 1948 Convention, which prohibits conditions that lead to the partial or total destruction of a group.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor confirmed that the continuation of this policy without firm international intervention not only represents a failure in humanitarian response but also constitutes complicity in a documented genocide targeting the Palestinian demographic structure.

It added that Israel's actions are exacerbating the humanitarian disaster and entrenching starvation as a tool of genocide. The monitor pointed out that humanitarian aid is a basic right for civilians that cannot be compromised under international humanitarian law, and there is no legal exception or justification for Israel to deny Palestinians essential humanitarian aid.

It explained that Israel is not only using aid as a bargaining chip for political or military gains but is deliberately implementing a systematic starvation policy in an attempt to create deadly living conditions that make the survival of Gaza's population impossible.

The repeated announcement by "Israel" regarding its full coordination with the current US administration, which has explicitly declared its intention to fully expel the population of the Gaza Strip, confirms that the crimes of starvation and cutting off humanitarian aid are not merely negotiation tools or isolated practices, but part of a well-planned scheme that aligns with the US approach to enforce forced displacement and depopulate the region.

This comes within the framework of an ethnic cleansing policy, which represents an additional indicator of the destructive intent behind the crime of genocide, especially with the imposition of lethal living conditions that make it impossible for life to continue in Gaza.

It was emphasized that this Israeli policy entrenches the crime of genocide, according to the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which prohibits imposing living conditions that lead to the total or partial destruction of a group.

The statement also pointed out that even after the ceasefire, the occupation continued to impose coercive and deadly conditions aimed at the gradual elimination of the Palestinians by depriving them of the basic necessities of life, as part of a long-term scheme that threatens their physical existence as a national group.

It warned that the international community cannot continue to turn a blind eye to the illegal blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, which constitutes one of the primary tools of genocide.

It called on all relevant countries and entities to bear their legal responsibilities and take urgent action to stop the crime of genocide in Gaza through all available means, imposing all necessary measures to force "Israel" to lift the blockade completely and immediately, allow free movement of individuals and goods without restrictions, and open all crossings without arbitrary conditions.

It also urged the adoption of effective steps to save the Palestinians from slow death and forced displacement plans, including activating an urgent response to meet the immediate and appropriate needs of the population, such as providing temporary and decent housing.

The international community was also called upon to impose economic, diplomatic, and military sanctions on "Israel" due to its systematic and grave violations of international law, including banning the export of weapons to it, or purchasing from it, halting military cooperation with it, and freezing the financial assets of officials involved in crimes against Palestinians.
