In a statement issued Wednesday, the office declared that Gaza is now facing a genuine humanitarian catastrophe and a clear famine, where hunger directly threatens civilian lives—especially more than 1.1 million children suffering from severe malnutrition—amid widespread food shortages, scarce access to clean water, the near-total collapse of the healthcare system, and deprivation of basic necessities for survival.
It added: “The sight of long lines at the few remaining food distribution points has become a daily tragedy across all governorates, as the occupation has targeted and destroyed more than 37 aid centers and 28 community kitchens as part of a systematic campaign to use starvation as a weapon of war against civilians.”
The office emphasized that what is occurring in Gaza is not a temporary crisis, but an organized starvation campaign that constitutes a war crime, carried out by occupation forces with international complicity and silence—especially from countries providing political and military cover for the enemy’s genocide of over 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza.
Regarding humanitarian aid, the statement noted that the occupation continues to block the entry of relief trucks and fuel, leaving thousands of aid trucks stuck at crossings for weeks, unable to reach those in urgent need.
The intensified blockade has impacted every aspect of daily life, undermining the core elements of human survival and deepening an already catastrophic situation for more than 2.4 million people—marking an unprecedented, total collapse.
The statement further noted that essential service and humanitarian infrastructure is on the verge of complete breakdown. Hospitals are operating at minimal capacity due to shortages of medicine and fuel, and all medical facilities are expected to shut down within two weeks if fuel remains unavailable.
It continued: “Bakeries have stopped functioning due to a lack of flour and energy sources. Water stations have also ceased operations due to fuel shortages and deliberate power outages, especially at desalination plants.”
The Government Media Office warned of the imminent risk of mass casualties due to starvation, lack of medical care, and the spread of disease.
It called for urgent international intervention to stop the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing, and to pressure the occupying forces to lift the unjust blockade on Gaza, open the crossings, and allow the free and unconditional entry of humanitarian aid and fuel, in line with international law and humanitarian principles.
Since the beginning of the war on Gaza in October 2023, more than 944 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops and settlers, and more than 7,000 others have been injured in the West Bank.
Last July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) declared that Israel’s long-standing occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal, demanding the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds
