News - Yemen: The local authority in the Capital Secretariat strongly condemned the brutal massacre carried out by the US aggression in the Furwah neighborhood and market in Sha'ub District, which claimed the lives of dozens of civilians.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the authority denounced the American terrorist airstrike on a densely populated residential area and busy public market, saying it once again reveals the ugliness, confusion, and desperation of the barbaric aggression, which continues to target civilians in residential neighborhoods, public markets, and civilian infrastructure.

The statement described this horrific crime—and others committed by the US—as full-fledged war crimes that will not expire with time, and as blatant violations of all international laws and humanitarian conventions that prohibit attacks on civilians and civilian facilities.

The local authority stressed that the ongoing atrocities by the US in residential areas and public spaces are a failed attempt to break the steadfastness of the Yemeni people and deter them from supporting Gaza and the Palestinian people, who are facing massacres, genocide, blockade, starvation, and displacement at the hands of the Israeli regime, backed by the United States.

It reaffirmed that such escalation will never deter the Yemeni people from their principled and unwavering stance in supporting the Palestinian cause and its brave resistance until victory is achieved and the Zionist occupier is deterred—regardless of the challenges.

The Capital Secretariat held the United Nations, the international community, and humanitarian organizations fully responsible for the ongoing crimes and violations committed by the American and Israeli aggressors against the peoples of Palestine and Yemen, including the killing of children and women.

The US aggression has intensified its airstrikes on Yemen over the past month, killing over 200 people since March. The latest attack, on Sunday evening, struck the densely populated Furwah neighborhood in Sana’a, killing at least 12 civilians and injuring more than 30. The assault targeted a crowded market in the Sha'ub District, and the death toll is expected to rise as rescue efforts continue.

These attacks are part of a broader US campaign claiming to deter Yemen from targeting Israel-linked vessels. However, Yemeni forces have vowed to continue their operations in the Red Sea and beyond until Israel ends its war on Gaza. 

In response to the genocide in Gaza and foreign aggression, Yemen has imposed a strategic blockade on key maritime routes, aiming to disrupt arms shipments and pressure the global community to intervene in the humanitarian crisis.
