The letters, addressed to the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the President of the Arab Parliamentary Union, the Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, the President of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, the President of South Africa’s National Assembly, the Secretary-General of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly, the President of the European Parliament, and a number of heads of parliaments, houses of representatives, and shura councils around the world, outlined the reality of the ongoing American aggression against Yemen amid dangerous escalations across the region and the world.
The letters emphasized that the unjustified American aggression primarily targets civilians, marketplaces, residential areas, and civilian objects.
It clarified that this American aggression comes within the context of the US administration’s unlimited support for the Zionist enemy, which continues to commit heinous crimes against the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The letters pointed out that Trump's claims about protecting international navigation in the Red Sea are blatant lies and a deception of the American people and international public opinion, used to justify the horrific crimes committed against the Yemeni people and their resources.
The Yemeni Parliament reaffirmed Yemen’s commitment to the security and safety of maritime navigation in its territorial waters in accordance with international law and UN regulations. It stressed that Yemen’s territorial waters remain a safe passage for international shipping — except for vessels heading to or from occupied Palestinian ports, regardless of their nationality or pretext — until the brutal Israeli aggression ends and the siege on Gaza is lifted.
The Parliament also stressed that Yemen’s supportive stance towards the Palestinian cause does not violate international law but rather constitutes a legitimate exercise of Yemen’s sovereign right to self-defense and a lawful response to the war crimes and genocide committed by the Israeli killing machine with direct support from the Trump administration. It described Yemen’s actions as a moral, humanitarian, and legal commitment to supporting the Palestinian people’s just struggle for freedom and dignity.
The Parliament held the Trump administration fully legally, morally, and humanly responsible for the war crimes and massacres committed against the Yemeni people and their resources, and for compensating all damages and losses inflicted upon civilians, public and private properties, and Yemen’s national wealth due to the American aggression.
The letters urged the Inter-Parliamentary Union and regional and international parliamentary unions to move swiftly and fulfill their responsibilities in lifting the injustice against the Palestinian people, by enforcing International Criminal Court rulings against Zionist war criminals, especially Netanyahu, Gallant, and all those involved in these crimes, and providing full support to the ICC to enable it to carry out its duties without pressure or blackmail.
Finally, the Yemeni Parliament called for unifying parliamentary efforts to confront these challenges, violations, and assaults, adopting strong and courageous joint positions in support of Palestinian rights, and demanding an end to the Zionist occupation and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital.
The US continues to conduct aggressive aerial assaults on Yemen, frequently targeting civilian areas and residential neighbourhoods. These attacks have resulted in hundreds of casualties, in support for the Zionist entity.
Washington claims its strikes are aimed at deterring Yemen from targeting vessels linked to Israel. However, Yemeni forces have reiterated their commitment to ongoing military operations in the Red Sea and beyond until the Israeli war on Gaza is brought to an end.
In response to the genocide in Gaza and foreign intervention, Yemen has enforced a strategic blockade on critical maritime routes. This move seeks to disrupt arms shipments and apply international pressure to address the escalating humanitarian crisis.
