News - Yemen: The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine praised the success of the Yemeni Armed Forces in striking a US aircraft carrier and downing an advanced F-18 fighter jet.

In an official statement, the Popular Front commended what it described as a "bold and exceptional operation" carried out by the Yemeni military, which resulted in the downing of a US F-18 jet during an engagement with the USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea.

"This heroic operation, marked by exceptional courage and capability, demonstrates that the will of the Yemeni people can bring about strategic shifts, despite vast disparities in military power," the statement read.

The group emphasized that the ability to strike a US aircraft carrier and shoot down one of its modern warplanes is a testament to the determination and boldness of Yemeni forces, who have shown they can confront the world’s most powerful forces without hesitation.

The statement added that this renewed battle proves Yemen—despite escalating aggression and blockade—continues to write epic chapters of pride and defiance, shaking US calculations and undermining its image of dominance. It also stressed that Yemen’s struggle is inherently linked with the fight in Gaza and Palestine, reflecting a shared blood, destiny, and resistance that transcends borders.

The Popular Front saluted the "honorable and heroic act," asserting that the Yemeni people are undefeatable and unbreakable, and like the people of Palestine, are steadfast on the path to liberation and victory.

Earlier this week, the US military admitted that an F-18 fighter jet fell off the USS Harry S. Truman while maneuvering to evade Yemeni fire.

The US Navy confirmed on Monday the loss of an F-18 fighter jet from the USS Harry S. Truman, a carrier involved in operations against Yemen. This admission followed a major strike by Yemeni forces, which targeted the carrier and forced it to retreat to the northern Red Sea. The strike was a retaliation for recent US airstrikes in Sana’a and Sa’adah, resulting in civilian casualties.

This marks the second loss of an F-18 in recent months, following a similar incident in December 2023. 

Yemeni forces have vowed to continue targeting US military assets in the Red Sea until the US-backed Israeli aggression in Gaza ends. The escalation reflects Yemen's ongoing resistance against US military operations and its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause.
