Yemeni Armed Forces Strike Israeli Airport, Enforce No-Fly Zone in Support of Gaza

News - Yemen: The Yemeni Armed Forces announced a series of military operations targeting Israeli sites, including a precision strike on Lod Airport (known as "Ben Gurion" in Israel) in the occupied Yafa (Tel Aviv) region. The attack was carried out with a hypersonic ballistic missile, which reportedly hit its target successfully.

According to military statements read by spokesman brigadier general Yahya Sare’e, “Israeli air defense systems failed to intercept the missile, forcing millions of settlers to seek shelter and causing a near-hour-long suspension of flights at the airport. The operation was described as part of Yemen’s ongoing enforcement of a no-fly zone against what it called the "criminal Israeli entity."

In a separate operation, Yemen’s drone unit targeted a strategic Israeli site in Yafa using a "Yafa"-type unmanned aircraft. The military did not provide further details on the extent of damage caused.

The Yemeni Armed Forces also reaffirmed their maritime and aerial blockade, warning international companies to comply with the ban on flights and shipping to Israel. The statement emphasized that the restrictions—including a ban on Israeli ships in the Red and Arabian Seas—would remain in effect until “Israel” halts its military operations in Gaza and lifts the siege on the territory.

The latest escalation comes amid rising regional tensions over the war in Gaza, where Palestinian health officials report over 52,000 killed and 119,000 wounded since the Israeli aggression began. Yemen has positioned itself as an active participant in the conflict, vowing further operations until Israeli aggression ends.

Amid the aftermath of the Yemeni operation targeting Lod in Yafa, air raid sirens blared across over 200 occupied towns and cities, driving millions of settlers into bomb shelters in panic. Viral videos captured chaotic scenes—thousands fleeing beaches in Yafa as alarms sounded, while others huddled underground awaiting the missile's impact.

The Zionist enemy confirmed powerful explosions rocked the entity’s core, acknowledging that the U.S.-made "THAAD" missile defense system failed for the second time to intercept the Yemeni projectile. The strike forced immediate flight cancellations to Ben Gurion Airport, with global aviation trackers and media outlets reporting prolonged disruptions to air traffic.

The operation’s ripple effects triggered extended flight suspensions to occupied territories, with major carriers like Lufthansa and Swiss Air halting operations until at least May 18. Analysts warn these disruptions could escalate further as Yemeni operations intensify, compounding the humiliation of U.S.-Israeli defense failures.

The strike deepened fractures between the Zionist entity and its American patron, while inflaming internal dissent.
