In its Tuesday edition, Haaretz wrote that no country has ever succeeded in subjugating the Yemenis—so why does Israel keep trying?
The paper explained that the Zionist entity’s preferred strategy of targeted assassinations of military leaders is doomed to fail in Yemen, affirming that attacks on Hodeidah port will not break the will of the Yemeni people.
Meanwhile, Reuters reported that Israeli forces detected missile launches from Yemen, with sirens sounding in the West Bank and in "Nir Am" near the Gaza Strip.
Haaretz called on the Israeli regime to consider addressing Yemen internally, stating the Yemenis are not afraid of their enemies and hold a genuine belief that Allah is with them.
It added that the Yemenis are not a "short, amusing story"—they continue to launch rockets at Israel and disrupt the daily lives of its population. Israeli air force strikes have failed to deter them.
According to Haaretz, US President Donald Trump grew tired of the war against Yemen and sought a deal with them. The paper questioned how much pressure Trump might exert on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach a similar agreement in order to halt the missile strikes targeting the occupied territories.
Since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemen has emerged as a pivotal regional actor in the confrontation, aligning itself firmly with the Palestinian resistance. The Yemeni Armed Forces, under the leadership of the Sana'a-based government, have launched a series of strategic military operations—including missile and drone strikes as well as naval and aerial blockades—targeting Israeli-linked infrastructure and shipping routes.
What began with the disruption of maritime traffic in the Red Sea soon evolved into more expansive campaigns, affecting key Israeli economic hubs such as the port of Eilat and Lod Airport. In May 2025, the Yemeni military escalated further by declaring a naval blockade on Haifa Port, a major economic artery for Israel, handling over a third of the country's cargo volume.
These operations form part of Yemen’s declared policy of pressuring Israel to end its war on Gaza and lift the siege. The attacks have triggered widespread disruptions in international shipping, tourism, and air travel, with dozens of global airlines suspending operations to and from Israeli airports.
