Yemen's Justice Ministry Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Sana'a Airport as War Crimes

News - Yemen: The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights condemned the crime committed by the Zionist enemy after targeting Sana'a International Airport and civilian aircraft with over four airstrikes.

In a statement, the Ministry said that the aggression, which resulted in the destruction of the airport's infrastructure, air navigation facilities, and a civilian aircraft belonging to Yemenia Airways the 5th such incident since the last targeting of the airport—constitutes a blatant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, and the law of armed conflict.

The statement considered this Zionist attack a war crime under the Rome Statute and a clear violation of international agreements, especially the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention, 1944).

It noted that the aggression led to the suspension of all Yemenia Airways flights, depriving thousands of civilians, including patients, of travel via the only available route to Jordan.

"Yemen demands a clear condemnation from the Security Council and the General Assembly for these violations, the prosecution of those responsible before the International Criminal Court, compensation for Yemen for material, humanitarian damages, and the imposition of an international mechanism to prevent the recurrence of attacks on civilian infrastructure in Yemen," the statement added.

The Ministry of Justice, Human Rights pointed out that the continued impunity of the Israeli enemy encourages further violations of international law and threatens global peace.

It reaffirmed Yemen's legitimate right to defend itself against war crimes, as stipulated by the Genocide Convention and the rules of customary international law.

On Wednesday, the Zionist enemy launched an airstrike targeting Sana’a International Airport, Yemen’s primary air travel hub and a critical piece of national infrastructure. According to Al-Masirah’s correspondent in Sana’a, enemy warplanes carried out four strikes, hitting the airport’s runway and a Yemenia Airlines aircraft.

This attack is part of a broader pattern of aggression that Yemen has faced in recent years, involving US, Saudi, British, and Israeli forces. The airport, which plays a vital role in serving both civilian passengers and humanitarian aid operations, has been repeatedly targeted, raising serious concerns over the impact on innocent civilians and the obstruction of essential services. The continued targeting of such facilities represents a dangerous escalation in an already volatile regional situation.
