Sana'a Slams US Gaza Ceasefire Veto as 'Eternal Stain on America's Forehead'

News - Yemen: The Government of National Salvation in Sana'a expressed deep anger over the United States’ disgraceful use of the UN Security Council veto to block a draft resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and an end to the Zionist aggression committing genocide against the Palestinian people.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the government described the US veto—issued amid widespread global condemnation voiced by UN member states, governments, and human rights organizations—as an “eternal stain on America’s forehead.”

The statement declared the veto as undeniable proof of the US's direct and brazen complicity in what it called “the crime of the century”—the ongoing extermination of over 2.4 million besieged Palestinians in Gaza, who are denied food, water, and medicine and subjected to relentless bombing and starvation, in a scene that disgraces humanity and exposes the lies of so-called human rights advocates.

The government asserted: “With this stance, America reaffirms, beyond any doubt, that it is the official sponsor of Zionist terrorism and a full partner in every drop of blood spilled on the sacred land of Palestine.”

It stressed that the American veto is not merely a political maneuver, but an unlawful license to kill more women, children, and the elderly in Gaza. It provides cover for the war crimes committed by Netanyahu and his savage Zionist gang.

The statement also highlighted that the veto once again reveals the failure of the UN Security Council and the collapse of international justice, as all international laws and humanitarian norms are being trampled.

“What kind of council is this,” the statement asked, “where the will of one nation can paralyze global decisions in favor of the oppressor over the victim? What kind of international law is constantly violated without consequence when it comes to Zionist crimes?”

Addressing the so-called civilized world, the government said, “Shame on those who raise the banners of justice and freedom while trampling them underfoot for the sake of cheap interests and shady alliances.”

To the Arab and Islamic nation, it stated: “What is happening proves, beyond doubt, that relying on the so-called international community or UN organizations is an illusion. The only viable path is one of honor and dignity—resistance and jihad for the sake of God—as the way to confront American arrogance and Zionist savagery.”

It emphasized that this responsibility falls on every free and honorable Arab and Muslim—before God, their conscience, the blood of the martyrs, the groans of the wounded, and the patience of those besieged in proud Gaza.

The Government in Sana'a renewed its call for all Arab and Islamic nations and governments to fulfill their religious, moral, and humanitarian duty in the face of the genocide being carried out against the Palestinian people in plain sight of the world, amidst shameful silence and complicity from Arab and Islamic regimes.

It concluded by reaffirming Yemen’s unwavering support for Gaza and its people in this sacred battle of liberation and promised victory—trusting in Allah and confident in His support. Yemen’s stance—leadership, government, army, and people—will remain a shining symbol in the history of the nation, reviving hope, conscience, and showing the way forward.

The US has once again found itself isolated on the global stage after vetoing a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. The draft resolution, supported by 14 out of 15 Council members, sought to halt the devastating Israeli war on Gaza, which has resulted in over 54,000 Palestinian deaths, the majority of whom are women and children. It also called for the restoration of essential services and humanitarian access, as well as a phased Israeli withdrawal from the besieged territory.

The US justified its veto by objecting to the resolution’s failure to condemn Hamas and demand its disarmament, reiterating its longstanding support for Israel. Critics argue this stance effectively provides cover for the continuation of Israel’s military campaign, which has drawn widespread condemnation for what many see as acts of genocide and war crimes.

As famine spreads, healthcare collapses, and aid efforts fail under Israeli and American-led mechanisms, international outrage is mounting. The American veto—opposed by nearly the entire Security Council—underscores the deepening global divide over the war on Gaza and has prompted sharp rebuke from governments and human rights groups alike.
