Yemen's Foreign Ministry Condemns US Veto on Gaza Ceasefire Resolution

News - Yemen: Yemen's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has strongly condemned the United States' use of its veto power in the United Nations Security Council to block a draft resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry emphasized that the US has exercised its veto power five times since the onset of the aggression on Gaza, and dozens of times over the past decades, to shield the Zionist entity and enable it to commit acts of genocide against the Palestinian people.

The Ministry asserted that this latest veto once again confirms the United States’ complicity in the genocidal acts carried out by the Zionist entity in Gaza. It further described the move as yet another demonstration of the longstanding and absolute bias of successive US administrations in favor of the criminal Zionist entity.

The statement also highlighted that the repeated use of the veto underscores the urgent need to reform the Security Council, particularly with regard to its membership structure and voting mechanism, to ensure it can genuinely fulfill its mandate of maintaining international peace and security.

The Ministry reiterated Yemen’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people and their courageous resistance in the face of what it described as the savage Zionist aggression on Gaza.

The United States vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire and full humanitarian access in Gaza, where the Israeli regime has killed more than 54,677 Palestinians—mostly women and children—and injured another 125,530 in its brutal military onslaught since October 7, 2023.

In November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its war on the besieged coastal territory.
