News - Yemen: The Yemeni Armed Forces announced the execution of a high-level military operation targeting Lod Airport in the occupied Yafa area with a hypersonic ballistic missile named Palestine-2.

In a statement issued Thursday evening, the official spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces confirmed that the operation successfully achieved its objective, forcing millions of Zionist settlers to flee to shelters and halting air traffic at the airport.

The statement clarified that this operation comes "in support of the oppressed Palestinian people and their resistance fighters, and in response to the aggression of the Zionist enemy entity."

At the conclusion of the statement, the Yemeni Armed Forces saluted "all the steadfast, loyal, and sincere resistance fighters in proud, glorious, and dignified Gaza, and throughout Palestine—the frontline defenders of the entire Islamic nation."

The statement reaffirmed the Yemeni people's and their Armed Forces' unwavering stance alongside the Palestinian people and their resistance, until the aggression is halted and the blockade lifted.

Since the outbreak of Israel’s war on Gaza in October 2023, Yemen’s Armed Forces have intensified their regional operations in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. These actions—ranging from missile and drone attacks to maritime disruptions in the Red Sea—have directly targeted Israeli interests and US military assets, challenging Western dominance in the region. Employing increasingly sophisticated tactics, including hypersonic missiles and precision drone strikes, the Yemeni military has positioned itself as a key actor in the broader regional resistance axis.

Amid this escalation, Israel launched a parallel offensive against Lebanon, prompting a retaliatory campaign by Hezbollah. Despite a ceasefire agreement reached on November 27, 2024, Israeli forces have repeatedly violated the truce by conducting airstrikes across southern Lebanon and maintaining an illegal military presence in five strategic areas: Labbouneh, Mount Blat, Owayda Hill, Aaziyyeh, and Hammamis Hill.

Lebanon extended the ceasefire until February 18, 2025, but Israel’s continued occupation and aggressive actions have led to renewed tensions and civilian casualties, including deadly airstrikes and incursions into Lebanese territory. 

Against this backdrop of escalating Israeli aggression in both Gaza and Lebanon, the Yemeni Armed Forces’ latest missile strike on Lod Airport is framed as a direct response to what they describe as Zionist violations and regional destabilization.
