President Mashat Condemns US Threats, Affirms Yemen’s Support for Iran’s Right to Defend Its Sovereignty
News - Yemen: Yemen's President Mahdi Al-Mashat strongly condemned the US threats directed at the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a statement on Thursday, President Al-Mashat affirmed that Iran has the full right to defend its sovereignty and denounced any form of interference in the internal affairs of sovereign nations.
He stated: “We condemn and denounce the threatening language we occasionally hear from American officials toward Iran.”
He also questioned the basis for these threats, asking, “What authority does the US rely on to issue such threats? And under what international law are its officials allowed to speak in this manner and interfere in the sovereignty of other nations?”
President Al-Mashat stressed that Iran has every legitimate right to defend its sovereignty by all lawful means and affirmed that Yemen stands firmly in support of this right.
This position comes amid rising regional and international tensions and reflects Yemen’s broader stance against foreign interference and in defense of national sovereignty.
The United States has initiated a partial evacuation of its diplomatic and military personnel across West Asia amid escalating regional tensions. On Wednesday, the US State Department ordered the departure of non-emergency staff from its embassy in Baghdad and recommended the voluntary departure of military dependents from American bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates.
President Donald Trump confirmed the decision, citing potential threats in the region and describing the situation as dangerous. This move follows intelligence assessments suggesting that Israel may be preparing to launch strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities — a scenario that has raised fears of retaliatory action from Iran, potentially targeting US assets.
Further heightening the stakes, an Iranian security official cofirmed that Tehran recently obtained a cache of classified Israeli documents, granting Iran "extensive intelligence superiority" over both American and Israeli targets in the region.
