Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Ali Bahreini, made the remarks in a letter addressed to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on Friday.
Bahreini stressed that the global health body must take decisive action to hold the perpetrators accountable for their illegal acts of aggression against Iranian territory.
He added that the Israeli regime’s acts of aggression damaged seven hospitals and medical centers in different parts of the country, leading to the martyrdom of 627 people, including four medical staff and four rescue workers. and injury to 4,935 others.
The Israeli regime launched a full-scale aggression on Iranian soil on June 13, targeting various military and nuclear sites, and assassinating many top-ranking military commanders and nuclear scientists as well as ordinary civilians.
The Iranian armed forces, in response, pounded the regime and its military and industrial infrastructure, using new-generation missiles that hit the designated targets with precision.
After 12 days, the Tel Aviv regime was forced to declare a unilateral ceasefire in a deal proposed by Washington to prevent further blows from Iranian missiles.
In his letter, Bahreini also warned against the catastrophic consequences of the “deliberate” Israeli-American aggression against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, which he said would pose a danger to the lives of people in Iran and the region.
He said such measures are against the statutes and resolutions approved by the World Health Organization.
In letters last week, Iran's Health Minister Mohammad Reza Zafarqandi called on the World Health Organization and the United Nations to condemn and halt Israeli attacks on Iran, specifically citing attacks on hospitals and the targeting of civilians and medical personnel.
