Human Rights Activist Warns of Deliberate Provocation in Taiz Amid Civilian Casualties

News - Yemen: Media figure and human rights activist Talaat Al-Sharjabi stated that the mercenaries of the aggression are deliberately working to ignite a military escalation in Taiz province, in line with agendas that serve the Zionist entity and the American administration, emphasizing that their recent escalation comes at a time when they are experiencing their worst field and morale conditions.

Al-Sharjabi pointed out that the crime of targeting civilians in the village of Al-Humaidiya, which resulted in the martyrdom of five children, is a continuation of the mercenaries' repeated criminal behavior. He said this act is an attempt to sabotage the state of calm and drag the country back into a cycle of violence.

He stressed that the attack targeting children in Al-Humaidiya with shells fired from areas under mercenary control was not accidental, but rather part of a deliberate strategy aimed at destabilizing security and reigniting frontlines.

He further noted that the humanitarian situation in Taiz is catastrophic, with severe deterioration in all basic services, including water, healthcare, and education.

He added: "The mercenaries of the aggression exploit the suffering of the people in the province and profit from the ongoing chaos. These groups only thrive in an atmosphere of war and escalation, and they constantly evade their responsibilities to the public by stirring instability."

In a related context, Al-Sharjabi rejected the narratives circulated by media outlets affiliated with the Islah Party, which claimed that the incident was caused by leftover war munitions.

He confirmed that eyewitness testimonies and accounts from the victims' families prove that the shells were launched from mercenary-controlled areas, specifically from the Al-Arsoom area on Jabal Al-Jabeel, near the site of the incident.

Al-Sharjabi also called on international organizations to assume their responsibilities and take a stand against the crimes committed by the aggression against civilians in Taiz. He accused these organizations of remaining silent when the perpetrators are allied with the coalition.

He warned that Taiz is being used as a stage for foreign agendas led by parties affiliated with the Zionist entity and the US administration, aimed at distracting Yemen’s internal front and preventing any popular or military support for the resistance in Gaza.

He clarified that the Yemeni army and the popular committees are exercising the highest levels of restraint despite repeated provocations, to avoid worsening the humanitarian crisis in the city. However, he stressed that a military response remains on the table if the aggression forces continue their escalation.

Al-Sharjabi concluded by affirming that the mercenaries’ attempts to ignite the situation in Taiz will not yield any military gains for them, but instead, serve only to present themselves as willing tools for executing the Zionist enemy’s plans.

He called for political and public vigilance to thwart these schemes and protect what remains of normal life in the afflicted province.

In a tragic attack, five children were martyred when aggression-backed mercenaries shelled residential homes in the Al-Arsoom area of Al-Taiz district. This strike is part of a broader pattern of violence in areas under US-Saudi control.

Taiz and other occupied provinces face ongoing chaos, marked by killings, kidnappings, and torture of civilians. Local security forces, complicit in these crimes, have failed to protect the population.

These repeated violations amount to war crimes and breach international human rights law, yet global organizations remain largely silent, offering no accountability for the suffering inflicted on civilians.
