Israel Has Kidnapped 360 Palestinian Health Workers Since October 2023

News- Middle East: Palestinian medical sources say Israel has kidnapped 360 healthcare workers since the start of the regime’s campaign of genocide in Gaza in October 2023.

The official Palestinian Wafa news agency, citing sources in Gaza, reported on Monday that Israeli forces are imposing severe restrictions on prisoners in general, and on medical workers in particular, as they live in difficult and tragic conditions in the regime’s incarceration facilities.

The sources noted that the director of Gaza’s Kamal Adwan Hospital has been subjected to various forms of intense torture and inhumane treatment.

They stated that the 51-year-old Hussam Abu Safia, who was detained in Gaza by the Israeli army in December, has undergone brutal interrogations and endured constant beatings.

Abu Safia’s health condition has reached a critical point, and he is denied treatment.

Palestinian lawyer Ghaid Qassem says the doctor suffers from serious health issues due to his exposure to torture and deliberate medical neglect in Israeli jails.

The lawyer noted that Abu Safia has lost more than 40 kilograms since he was kidnapped from Gaza, and is suffering from harsh and life-threatening incarceration conditions.

Qaasem added that the doctor was severely beaten by Israeli jailers on June 24 inside his cell at Ofer Prison, located near Ramallah.

As a result of that assault which lasted for more than half an hour, Abu Safia has sustained severe injuries and bruises on his chest, face, head, back and neck, according to the lawyer.

According to official figures from the Health Ministry of Gaza, at least 58,386 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed and 139,077 injured since October 7, 2023.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the besieged coastal territory.
