In a report issued Tuesday, the magazine described this threat as a "new phase of terror" for Red Sea navigation.
Martin Kelly, Head of Advisory at EOS Risk, explained that Yemeni forces are already implementing this approach, citing the prior targeting of the oil tanker Magic Seas as evidence of these warnings’ seriousness.
Dirk Siebels, an analyst at Risk Intelligence, urged ship operators to treat Yemeni warnings with utmost seriousness, cautioning that ignoring them could lead to "severe losses." He referenced the fate of the Magic Seas and ETERNITY C, which were targeted and sunk after violating the blockade imposed on the Zionist entity due to its crimes and massacres in Gaza and disregarding Yemeni warnings.
Yahya Saree, the Yemeni Armed Forces’ military spokesperson, stated that this escalation responds to the "shameful Arab, Islamic, and international silence toward Israel’s genocidal war and starvation campaign against two million people in Gaza."
This strategic shift by Yemen marks a significant escalation of tensions in one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes, foreshadowing broader economic and geopolitical repercussions for global trade.
Since late 2023, Yemen’s naval operations in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea have dramatically reshaped maritime security and trade in the region. Gaza is currently facing the most severe humanitarian crisis it has ever encountered, marked by a devastating famine coinciding with a genocidal war by the Israeli regime.
As of March 2, 2025, all border crossings into the Strip have been sealed by Israel and the regime has obstructed the entry of food and medical assistance, resulting in extensive famine throughout the coastal territory.
According to the latest figures, 134 Palestinians, including 88 children, have died from famine and malnutrition since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.
At least 59,921 Palestinians have also been killed, mostly women and children, and another 145,233 individuals injured.
