American Support for Israeli Genocidal War on Gaza Hits New Low Record, Gallop poll Finds

News- Middle East: A recent poll by American multinational analytics and advisory company Gallup indicates that he approval rating of Israel's genocidal campaign in Gaza among Americans stands at 32 percent, marking the lowest level recorded since the inquiry was initially posed in November 2023.

The survey, conducted between July 7 and 21, shows that the disapproval of Israeli atrocities among Americans has now risen to 60 percent, showing significant variation along partisan lines.

It further reveals that Democratic support has fallen to a mere 8 percent, whilst only a quarter of independents now approve of the ongoing onslaught against Palestinians in the besieged coastal territory.

The latest poll comes amid growing international outrage against Israel for famine-like conditions throughout the Gaza Strip, and forced starvation of Palestinians under the occupying regime’s brutal blockade.

“Americans supported Israel’s actions in Gaza in its initial reading in 2023, taken several weeks after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack. Since then, disapproval has outpaced approval in each survey, peaking at 55 percent in March 2024 before dipping to 48 percent in two readings later in the year,” Gallup said.

Seventy-one percent of Republicans express approval for the relentless Israeli strikes in Gaza; however, the significant disparity among political parties is perceived as jeopardizing the enduring bipartisan backing for the US-Israel alliance.

The Gallup poll indicated that a majority of Americans, specifically 52 percent, disapprove of Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, marking his highest unfavorable rating since 1997. However, this measure also varies along party lines.

“Two-thirds of Republicans, 67 percent, now have a favorable opinion of Netanyahu, compared with 19 percent of independents and 9 percent of Democrats,” Gallup said.

At least 60,034 Palestinians have been killed, mostly women and children, and another 148,870 individuals injured in the brutal Israeli onslaught on Gaza since October 7, 2023.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the besieged coastal territory.
