Charity Slams Israeli Enforced Starvation of Children in Gaza As 'Moral Scar on Humanity'

News- Middle East: An international charity has condemned the Israeli weaponization of food against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, calling the Israeli-imposed starvation a "moral scar on humanity" and civilization.

In a statement on Sunday, Save the Children's regional director slammed the Israeli-imposed famine and deliberate killing of Palestinian children in Gaza.

Director for the Middle East, North Africa and Eastern Europe, Ahmad Alhendawi, described the "avoidable" starvation deaths of 100 children in Gaza as a "devastating milestone that shames the world.”

“Children in Gaza are being starved by design by Israeli authorities. This was a wholly predictable and avoidable tragedy that humanitarian organizations have been warning about for months,” Alhendawi said.

“Nearly two years of war and a chokehold on lifesaving aid have condemned children to mass deaths, suffering, and shattered futures – all of which are entirely preventable,” Alhendawi added.

The charity official insisted that the Israeli regime is legally obliged to protect the children, warning the zionist leaders that the starvation deaths in Gaza add another war crime to Tel Aviv's long criminal history.

“What kind of a world have we built to let at least 100 children be starved to death while the food, water and medical supplies to save them wait just miles away at a border crossing?”

“Israel is using starvation as a method of warfare – a war crime under international law,” he said.

It is obliged to provide aid to civilians and protect them, he added.

The international community, he said, “is obliged to ensure that and enforce international law across the board. This dereliction of legal duty is on all of us. This is a moral scar on our shared humanity and shames the world.”

Meanwhile, the Israeli forces killed at least 47 people in attacks across the Strip on Saturday, including dozens who were waiting for aid.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Health said that at least five more Palestinians had starved to death in the previous 24-hour reporting period, including two children. The latest two deaths raised the death toll of children who have died from the Israeli-imposed starvation in Gaza to 100.

Medical sources in Gaza said that the latest deaths from starvation bring the overall death toll since the start of the war to 217. Since October 2023, the Israeli regime’s genocidal war on Gaza has left at least 61,369 Palestinians killed, and more than 152,850 others injured.

Despite the cruel conditions and the starvation already threatening the hapless Palestinians in Gaza, last week the Tel Aviv regime declared a new phase in the genocidal war, ordering its forces to occupy Gaza City.
