News - Middle East: The US aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson has returned to the port of San Diego after a 269-day deployment at sea, USNI News website, affiliated with the US Naval Institute, reported.

The website explained on Wednesday that the Vinson carrier group remained in the northern Arabian Sea and never sailed through the Bab al-Mandab Strait into the Red Sea.

It also noted that another US aircraft carrier, the Nimitz, operated in a similar manner to the Vinson, staying outside the Red Sea despite recent Yemeni naval operations.

This information suggests that the United States may be avoiding sending aircraft carriers into the Red Sea amid escalating attacks by the Yemeni Armed Forces on ships linked to the Israeli enemy, as part of their support for the Gaza Strip.

This approach reflects a US reassessment of the viability of deploying such massive warships in an area experiencing asymmetric military escalation.

The Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait are among the world’s most strategic waterways, serving as a vital link between the Arabian Sea and the Suez Canal through which a significant portion of global trade flows. This narrow corridor is also a focal point of geopolitical tension, where control over maritime routes carries both economic and military significance.

The Yemeni Armed Forces have positioned themselves as a key player in supporting Gaza, which is enduring genocide at the hands of the Israeli enemy, backed by the United States.
