News – Yemen: The annual conference of Yemeni scholars convened in the capital Sana’a on Wednesday under the theme “The Position of the Ummah’s Scholars on the Starvation War in Gaza and the ‘Greater Israel’ Project.”

Participants affirmed that the ongoing genocide in Gaza and the Israeli expansionist project are not mere political disputes but existential and doctrinal issues that demand a jihadi stance and religious responsibility.

Deputy Chairman of the Association of Yemeni Scholars, Abdul-Majid al-Houthi, stressed that Yemen’s clerics embody unity and courage, speaking the truth without fear, backed by a people known for patience and resilience. He described the unified stand behind the resistance and the revolution’s leadership as a “great honor.”

Sheikh Abdul-Basit al-Humaidi of the Scholars Association said scholars from across Yemen gathered to declare solidarity with the Palestinian people, calling their stance “part of jihad.” He added that such positions boost the morale of Gaza’s fighters and affirm that they are not alone.

Other participants, including Mufti of al-Bayda Hussein al-Haddar, emphasized that Gaza’s suffering exposes the Zionist scheme and the complicity of Arab regimes that normalize with Israel. He affirmed that Palestine is a land of Islam and jihad, not to be surrendered like “the lands of the Native Americans.”

Guest speaker Sheikh Maher Hammoud, head of the Global Union of Resistance Scholars, hailed Yemen’s steadfastness and praised the axis of resistance from Yemen to Tehran, Lebanon, and Gaza for offering lessons in struggle that “will never be erased from history.”

Since the beginning of the Israeli enemy’s war on Gaza, Yemeni religious, political, and social institutions have declared full solidarity with the Palestinian cause. The clerical establishment in particular has framed the battle as a religious and civilizational duty, aligning with the Yemeni Armed Forces’ military operations against Israeli and US interests in the Red Sea and beyond.
