News - Yemen: Israeli enemy media reported that its warplanes faced direct threats from Yemeni Armed Forces during attempts to carry out extensive strikes on Yemen.

The Hebrew newspaper Maariv stated that Israeli aircraft were targeted by Yemeni Air Defenses missiles while conducting operations over Yemen, referencing a claim by a Yemeni military source in Sana’a that a significant portion of Israeli fighter jets involved in planned attacks on the capital had been neutralized.

Deputy Head of Ansarullah’s Media Authority and Chairman of Yemen’s Saba News Agency, Nasr al-Din Amer, told Al-Masirah TV that “the Air Defenses thwarted the majority of the Israeli aggression, confronting several of its combat formations and forcing them to withdraw.”

He added that the Air Defenses “used locally made missile systems in the operation to repel the attacks.”

The airstrikes on Sana’a came a day after Israeli media reported growing concern over Yemen’s advancing missile capabilities. Israeli outlets cited air force sources saying Yemen may have used a multiple-warhead ballistic missile for the first time, a development that could challenge Israel’s missile defense systems.

Yemen’s air defense systems have increasingly targeted Israeli aircraft amid a series of Israeli-led operations reportedly aimed at retaliating against Yemen’s support for the Palestinian people in Gaza. 

This marks one of the first acknowledgments by Israeli media that its planes faced credible threats from Yemeni forces. Yemen has emphasized that these defenses rely on locally produced technology, highlighting the country’s growing military capabilities despite ongoing external pressures and regional tensions.
